Video of my MS'ed and GPIO'ed Jensen Interceptor

A good friend made a video of my '74 Jensen Interceptor (Chrysler 440) which I EFI-ed with MS2 and with its transmission upgrade using GPIO as transmission controller:

False AE triggers - SOLVED (I think)

I can quite rightly say that I have been struggling with false AE triggers for YEARS!! (I did my first MS2 install in 2006)

All the time there is absolutely no evidence in the TPS tracklog (flat lines) to serve as cause for AE to trigger and yet it has been been a bugbear in my MS experience. I can ...

Re: EDIS coil packs: Sparkplug with or without resistor?

Look I know I'm a blond, and I have done the most amazingly daft things but this time I am stumped. I also thought that what happens on the secondary side could not affect the primary side- certainly not to this extent.

I have read somewhere that resistored plugs will produce a longer spark ...

EDIS coil packs: Sparkplug with or without resistor?

This is one of those threads that can easily prompt a lot of speculation. I hope will not happen in this case.

I've been converting the Chrysler 440 in my Jensen to EFI using MS-2. Phase 1 was to get just the ignition running with MS-2 reading a 36-1 trigger wheel off the crank
pulley and then ...

Re: Any experience with Edelbrock 38783 Throttle body?

Thanks Matt

It looks like you are right. It does look like the engine is getting too much idle air via the PCV circuit, and thus too little air is having to pass via the idle valve. I do seem to be getting more "reaction" from it now, still not what I want but enough to give me hope.

The main ...

Any experience with Edelbrock 38783 Throttle body?

I'm using this TB on my Jensen Interceptor Mk3 (Mopar 440) but I'm not having joy with the Hitachi PWM idle valve that comes with this unit. MS-2 is controlling the EFI.

I specifically ordered the 38783 BECAUSE it comes with the PWM idle valve and not a stepper IAC as the 3878 does.

I'm not sure ...

Re: Idle timing on Chrysler 440?

Well, I did use the piston stop method to verify the TDC mark which is correct and right now she idles happiest at 25º BTDC....

She cruises at 55º (40kpa) with 36º at full throttle (85kpa) @ 1400m AMSL.

She starts easily (cold and warm with 0º advance) and I get 17L/100km (13.8mpgUS 16.6mpgUK ...

Re: Idle timing on Chrysler 440?

Sorry, as to the question of what ignition?

MS2 + 4 ign outputs + 36-1 trigger wheel + forward mounted ignition module with 4 IGBTs controlling 2 EDIS coil packs directly.

Re: Idle timing on Chrysler 440?

Thanks 440RR

I've been trying to avoid going this route as it is so difficult to get to that plug hole.

Could you post me a link of a "piston stop" please? Never seen one of these but I have heard of the principle involved. Only way to set the adjustable timing reference on a Jaguar V12 (with ...

Idle timing on Chrysler 440?

Hi all

Does anyone have any experience on a stock low compression Chrysler 440? I have just implemented MS-2 (36-1 crank trigger wheel) on this engine (ignition only so far) and find that it wants to idle at 30*BTDC!! This is far more than any engine I've had before and I would just like to hear if ...

That is a good plan! 'Cause it should!

I doubt it very much. There are no controls on the box to be able to do so.

MSD6A vs inductive timing light

Hi all

Is it possible to use a timing light with an inductive pickup to check the timing of spark generated with MSD6a?

The reason I ask is that at idle MSD6a generates 3 sparks per combustion stroke. It seems to me that my timing light triggers randomly on any of these 3 sparks because the TDC ...

Schematics inconsistency?

R45 is shown as 1K here : http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/pcb.htm

The parts list show it as 10k and this is how DIYAutoTune delivers it.

Ive had to increase this value to over 10k in order to prevent the VR circuit from being "overdriven" with a VR sensor that produces voltages that are too large ...

Re: Using MSII for dyno data collection

You have an interesting concept Theo!

I recon (thinking very quickly) you can do what you want to do (using MS2) as follows:
1) to get dyno RPM, install some tach mechanism to the dyno like a trigger wheel. You do not need many teeth so anything from 4 teeth and up should do fine;
2) to get torque ...

It is highly likely that nobody bothered responding to your questions as these questions are fully addressed in the FAQs - which clearly you did not bother to read. MS is NOT for those who "do not bother to :RTFM: " http://www.megamanual.com/index.html

The answers to your questions:

Re: AFR cycling with TPS

Every time you depress the throttle TPS moves but the the engine load (manifold pressure?) will also change as a consequence. Clearly your VE table is currently tuned to delivery leaner AFRs at higher throttle openings (engine loads). Your picture did not show AFRtarget which one would expect to be ...

Re: Precision Wideband controller

I've been using Innovate LC-1 but I have also found that these DO NOT like to be powered up while cranking. I now install them so they only get power once the alternator starts charging using the D+ output to energize a relay which then feeds power to the LC-1. Innovate also has a new WBO called MTX ...
