Re: big afr swings

look how nice and steady your map and pulsewidths are at idle. should be similar at a steady cruise.

another quick unrelated comment... looks like your alternator maintains 13.7v at 1000 RPM and above. at 800 RPM idle, it drops to 12.4. could maybe swap a pulley to speed it up a bit at idle.

Re: big afr swings

i agree entirely that the frequencies are not the same. BUT, in a steady state like that, injector pulsewidths should stay pretty constant. on my car, injector pulsewidth swings from 1.4 to 1.8 would have similar impact on AFR. ...Look at the time from 539.953>541.656 both the map and the pw are osc...

Re: big afr swings

hey, that's a nice looking motor. tough to fit in your car? Can the fluctuation in the map really cause that big of a fluctuation in the afr? Can a 11% change in map really cause a 30% change in afr? looks like map fluctuations are driving pulsewidth fluctuations, and from my experience a change in ...

Re: big afr swings

your voltage looks nice and steady, but your swings in AFR look like they are driven from MAP kind of erratic. in that same part of log where you first shared pic, your TPS is rock steady at 15 but the MAP range wiggles from 47 to 58, which wiggles your pulse widths from 1.4 to 1.8 which i think mig...

Re: Megasquirt fuse keeps blowing

where did you tap in for power? i had a similar experience at one point. i can't recall the details, but something else was on that circuit when powered off, it would blow the fuse. i ended up going directly to battery, which is better practice anyway as it acts as a big capacitor. try it temporary ...

Re: West Coast MegaMeet 2009 - Oct 10-11th 2009

Sheesh... these meets are tough for us Midwest guys....

Although, if i still don't have a 'real' job at that point, i just might be up for one last road trip before the snow flies.

Looks like a good lineup.

Re: Megasquirt/LC-1 question

Hey Dave- Definitely do not run power to LC-1 from the MS2 power in the case. LC-1 is a very noisy unit; both conducted and radiated. Put a scope on it, or turn it on/off with an AM radio antenna around, you will see what I mean. Both units will be much happier the further away they are getting thei...

Re: Second Sensor for Continuous Baro Correction

hmm. you know what... if you look at schematic for 2.2 board, the non-banded end of D1 is a ground, but the schematic for 3.0 board is jump from tach select through optoin. the instructions for adding a second baro is to ground at non-banded end of D1 which seems to be legacy from the 2.2 board. wei...

Re: Second Sensor for Continuous Baro Correction

i think pin 1 goes through resistor, not pin 3. don't forget to calibrate the table in flash according to specs of the sensor you install, although the one you listed may be in as default - but don't bet on it. sheesh.... 'normal' to drive sealevel -> 14k feet? that is up there. you have link to pic...

Re: Sequencer Beta into BMW M90 ( M30 )

another query about factory setup: why do you suppose the ground for the 'aux air valve' goes from the valve, through the harness, through firewall, into pin 34, through board trace to other grounds 16,17,35, back through harness and firewall, and then ground at intake? why not just ground from the ...

Re: Sequencer Beta into BMW M90 ( M30 )

Peter- I've got the manual for the car, thanks for scan offer though. I'll just put 15 amp fuses coming out of combo relay to each bank. When it comes time for cam sync, I was just going to first modify the reluctor wheel inside the distributor. If all works well, I'll prob swap the timing cover for...

Re: Sequencer Beta into BMW M90 ( M30 )

Wiring question: i don't see any fuses going to the injectors? big red wire going to terminal 88z at combo relay comes directly from starter, and through relay to terminals 88b & 88e which seem to go directly to injectors. why wouldn't factory have injectors fused? looks like ign power going to ...

Re: No spark sometimes.

Ingus- Sorry to hear the problem persists. Changing the VR circuit to deliver a full 5v is a much more stable signal, so that is good to have. I think it would be most helpful to take a look at the signal to the coil on a scope to determine that the signal is exactly what the ECU *thinks* it's sendi...

Re: No spark sometimes.

i think this is good news for you. i'd bet this fixes your problem.... i wish there was an answer why some of us have low voltage coming out of VR circuit, but this fixed mine and a couple others. mod is called the 'Krisr Mod'. I went through a very exhaustive process to diagnose and fix problem. my...

Re: No spark sometimes.

Ingus- the VR sensor sends varying voltages in a sine wave INTO the VR circuit on the board. the VR circuit on the board then converts that AC signal into a square wave pattern that should be 0v low and 5v high consistently and sends it to the chip. this is the signal that i'm talking about. it is V...

Re: No spark sometimes.

Ingus: very cool project. the one thing that struck something particular with your problems is the hot start. i had something similar with ignition problem on a MS2 3.0 board. do you have access to a scope to take a look at the voltage signal sent from VR circuit to the ECU? i had a square wave sign...

Re: Sequencer Beta into BMW M90 ( M30 )

... You could do that as you have no interest in reverting back to Ljet ... i think if i keep my changes documented, this swap back would be easy. i made a first draft of my wiring with sequencer. this is using the 106 box without pins 20, 28, & 29, so those items get wired outside of harness, ...
