Re: Palmtune and palmlog DL site gone

Hi piledriver,

I haven't been active on the forum for years, but came to browse and saw your note here. Our website had issues earlier this month, and it looks like the Palm stuff wasn't restored properly. I ran a restore, and have at least some of the content back up now.

Re: Palm and Blue tooth.

Sorry, but the BT project is way back on my priority list. Source is available to any that want to keep the development going.

Re: Palm and Blue tooth.

Just a brief note to say the Treo650 with BlueTooth connection to MS ran PalmLog successfully for the first time last night. I still need to finish BT-enabling all the other features, but a release will be soon.

Re: Palm and Blue tooth.

From reading the Palm programming documentation, I see no limitation with the Treo Bluetooth capabilities. There's also reports of Treo owners using their devices to control telescopes using the same serial-bluetooth devices we are using. The only problems I expect are due to my lack of programming ...

Re: Palm and Blue tooth.

Phongshader,

From what I've read on the Palm programming sites, there should be no problems. I've just picked up a Treo650 myself. I'll be working on the BT support for the Palm applications in the coming days, and will post results here.

Re: Palm and Blue tooth.

Thanks for the links Ian. Here's another to add to the list:

I've got a Treo 650 coming my way now, and may be able to find a local BT-serial loaner I can use for testing.

Re: Palm and Blue tooth.

Ian,

Kaas is being very patient in testing my various attempts at BT comm. Unfortunately, no joy yet. If at least the emulator supported BT, I could check the basic functionality, but even that is not possible. I'm on the lookout for BT hardware myself, as it will make the development process much ...

Back on page 2 of this thread, Ian (newtyres1), said:

Just for info for this thread, I recently got a Tungsten T, it does RS232 no worries, and is a very strong, quality unit. Everything on it works better or finer than the Palm V series and Sony Clie that I am comparing it with. What I also like ...

Kaas,

OK, give me a couple days to come up with a test program, and I'll send it your way.

Thanks,

Kaas,

Do you have MS1 or MS2 setup available for test?

1.) When I tried the latest upgrade, my code that compiled fine on the old version had numerous errors.
Fixed now... The lastest version contained a few syntax changes that required minor tweaks throughout the program.

2.) I'm running the old demo version, which only has a nag screen at program ...

Ian,

Hold off for now until I spend more time looking into the HB++ upgrade. There's a couple issues here:
1.) When I tried the latest upgrade, my code that compiled fine on the old version had numerous errors.
2.) I'm running the old demo version, which only has a nag screen at program launch, The ...

Ian,

From a quick search of ebay, it looks like $60 US minimum for an RS232-Bluetooth adapter. I'd expect some mods of the MS box may be needed to power that adapter through the DB9 as well. Here's a bit more info:

Newer versions of HB++, the Palm development environment used to write these programs, does offer Bluetooth support. If anyone is interested in giving it a try, it looks like the code mods required are pretty simple.

And, on the topic - I have modified my 2.2 MS board to feed power to a 'RS232 to bluetooth' unit. This was to be able to connect my laptop without a cable. But the Tungsten also has Bluetooth. Would a bluetooth unit Palm be able to communicate with the MS-unit using bluetooth ? (Running the MS ...

ronchinroy,

What operating system is installed on your Palm Viix? Do you know if it is the original OS, or was it upgraded? With that info I'll add details to the compatibility list.

Thanks,
Roger.

It seems to me the PalmVIIx has the older non-upgradeable operating system. If that's the case, it won't work.

PalmLog supports MS2, but has not been tested with MS2Extra that I'm aware of. The actually logging portion of the program should work if configured properly in the setup screen. Displayed ...

Yes, the bias resistor will need to be changed. The curve for the Mazda air temp thermistor is far away from the GM one.

Try the Mazda RX-7 defaults option from the file menu in EasyTherm. I seem to recall the sensors on the BP series are the same as the rotaries.

Sorry, PalmLog is written specifically to communicate via serial port. The source code is freely available to others who want to extend the functionality further.
