Re: Zoomies

One down fall of the clamp on sensor like the innovate exhauste clamp is it wont let you tune idle mixture very well it will get some diluted outside air into the sensor at low engine speeds/loads.

True - just set your VE table to get the best vacuum at idle and ignore your AFRs at that point. We ...

Re: Zoomies

It's possible, though you'd only get one cylinder. And you'd want to put it some distance from the end of the pipe. I'd simply tune it with a clamp on sensor and then run without an O2 sensor myself.

Re: NOISE: How to size a capacitor, and what types?

I didnt want to get to crazy with size because the ms still needs a current voltage to know for things like the injector opening time corection. I like how I have mine now works great.

Re: NOISE: How to size a capacitor, and what types?

I have two large capacitors from an AC system compressor. They are rated at 3 and 5 farads. One is a motor start type and the other is a motor run type. Would these be useful for cleaning up the power coming into a Megasquirt? I noticed that they are substantially less expensive for their capacity ...

Re: NOISE: How to size a capacitor, and what types?

So, you are saying that adding a 6800uf 25V capacitor between DB37 pin 28 (12V to MS) and DB37 pins 8-11 (ground) smoothed all the others sensors signals? How this is possible? How the voltage to MS can influence other sensors?
To be clear the cap is outside of the megasquirt ecu it is to big to ...

Re: Power on pin#9 serial port.

So for the most part I have it working well.
For problem 1 I Used 2 3300uf 6.3 volt capacitors On the bottom of the bord & they barely fit! conected to pins 9 and 5 one the serial port. This smoothed it out to just like using a cable.
For problem 2 I had to go and manualy reasign the com ports to ...

Re: Power on pin#9 serial port.

problem #1 can be from the adapter turning between standby and transmit rapidly (aperently my adapter has that built in) When it transmits data it uses ~30ma and ~3ma on standby acording to the specs. So when it switches back and forth it may be causing small voltage fluctuations on the 5v curcit in ...

Power on pin#9 serial port.

So after so so so many hours of bluetooth testing at trouble shooting I found that when I can get my bluetooth to link I would get very bad readings on all my sensors and I knoticed this with ms out of the car and nothing hooked to it other than power and ground. Being as it is a ms2 It has the map ...

Re: NOISE: How to size a capacitor, and what types?

Very interesting and something I should do, where did you buy that cap?

Brad J.
I got my from a local electic parts store called Quales. It is about 1.5 inches long and 3/4 inch dia. Just make sure it is a high enough voltage I got a 25 to cover spikes from my ignigtion switch being old and loose ...

Re: NOISE: How to size a capacitor, and what types?

I just looked and knoticed how much this cleaned up all the signals from my sensors. You can even see in the picture the tps is a strait line not bouncing between -1 and 0 the mat and coolent are alot smoother now too.

Clearly the second one (graph 1) is the original and not as good I was hoping they would show up without having to open them but If anyone wants to see a datalog before and after I will post it I am very very impressed with this it changes as the voltage changes but got rid of my 15.5 pluss spikes ...

Here is a couple screen shots of the voltage during start up and idleing before and after I installed a $5 6800 uf 25 volt capacitor.

Re: NOISE: How to size a capacitor, and what types?

I just simply wanted to smooth out the voltage but still let ms see a current value becaue the injectors are hooked to a different power source I want ms to compensate for the voltage changes still I just came home from installing my cap to get my computer to data log it idling. Let you know tonight!

Re: NOISE: How to size a capacitor, and what types?

Any luck with this I just bought a 6800 uf 25v cap to wire in right before ms and see if it smooths out my voltage in ms. I have got my volt spikes down to 15.5 and mesured my injector opening time very precicely so I dont get weird air fuel spikes when the voltage spikes happen as bad.

Re: Injector Test Mode

Use a multi meter to read the voltage at the battery as you do it. and also do some tests to see how close the voltage you multi meter reads vs what Megasquirt tells you the battery voltage is. I did this same thing But I pulled my injectors out and bench tested them at different voltages and it ...

I have the same problem and at about 3000 rpm At light throtle and up my car pops I found lowering the max_dwel helps I havent tried 1 because tha seems weird I am running a msd to a coil and a 8cl with a distrubitior. I will try 1ms tomorow o my 1400 km trip home!

Re: Fuel pump problem?

Can you remove the tee to the fuel tank all together? Just return the fuel form the fuel rail to the swirlpot? Does the pump in the tank have a "pressure relief", (like most stock fuel pumps), that will keep it from over pressurizing the swirlpot? If so, I'd just remove any return lines to the fuel ...

Re: Fuel pump problem?

I think I finaly got it I did some data logs and some city tuning from the pasengers seat and it went rich as soon as I swaped out the efi pump for the walbro 255 hi pressure pump to a random black one I found in a gold wing that the guy refuses to pick and or pay for here at work. The black one I ...

So I am still struggleing with this I have now a full tank of gas running to a holley lo presure dead head pump then to the top of a swirl pot which is now in my trunk to get it abouv the efi pump. Then from the very bottom of the swirl pot I run hose strait down to the efi pump then though all the ...

Re: Fuel pump problem?

I should have been clearer. I was wondering if your EFI pump is lower that your swirlpot? I think a deadhead pump going to the swirlpot, then the EFI pump pick up at the bottom of the swirlpot, is the way to go. Where does your FPR send excess fuel to? In theory, a pressurized container, (swirlpot ...
