Re: intermitent miss

i had a similar problem who ended up being a cold solder on the crank sensor circuit... you still have the welded in jumper wires with 3.57?

Re: Incrementing rpm signal!?

After 2 years of having ignition issues with my car too, i finaly figured it out with Matt from DIYAutoTune....

Re: uneffective "delay teeth"

ok, i'll test that tomorow. I finished rebuilding my starter and installed it in the car this afternoon. It starts well with cranking rpm set at 10.

thanks

Re: uneffective "delay teeth"

yes, the edge of the tooth after the missing one is right under the sensor when at tdc... that's what i dont understand. Once the 35* error corrected with trigger offset, ignition timing seems prety much spot-on.Thinking about it, my advance spike would correlate with the 35* trigger offset cuz ...

Re: uneffective "delay teeth"

Sorry, i was wrong, there is no such thing as fixed dwell but the polarity is def right.

I think i'll start to look at buying a scope.

Re: uneffective "delay teeth"

A bit late.... i got to work on the car lately and got back on tuning this week-end.

I have a MSD6 so i runn a fixed dwell and it's set on the right polarity. Yes, the wheel in the car has a missing teeth.

i've done some changes this winter and put the 1st tooth at TDC cuz i also had some start ...

Re: uneffective "delay teeth"

that's strange... When i used Dellay teeth 6 or 0 with trigger offset 55, i always got the same T+5.

I ran all summer long with Delay = 6 and trigger offset 55 and it gives me T+5 spark timing. At T+6 it's 5* ATDC so it's totaly imposible that i ran at T+11.. Not with the performance and fuel ...

Re: uneffective "delay teeth"

that's exactly what i tought... but it does not work. i currently run "6" on dellay teeth and still need to put 55 in trigger offset to get ignition at tdc.

Re: uneffective "delay teeth"

i restarted the car after the "dellay teeth" changes and it did nothing.

Trigger offset is spot on... i tuned it to give me TDC. I even checked my trigger wheel timing with the camshaft timing marks to be sure it was properly positioned.

just took a look to my msq and even with dellay teeth at 6 ...

uneffective "delay teeth"

Hi, i've been using my MS2 v3 all summer on my mercedes 190e 2.3-16 1986. Everything went prety straight forward except that the "dellay teeth" in megatune has absolutely no effect on ignition timing !? I belive i have 2.86 or 2.88 code.. it was still the latest code last september.

So what i did ...

Bump

Any news? On my side of the story, testing proves to be unsucesfull.

Almost finished to install MS on my car so i'll get back to the bike within a few weeks. Hopefully, the car start-up will be more straight forward. Custom optical sensor into distributor and the rest of the set-up is prety ...

well, the engine will only reeve at 8000 rpm MAX but it still makes it about .63 ms, whis is not verry high.

Tried inverting the VR sensor wires today.. it seems to miss a lot of pulses from the irq and timing not at it's place at all.. but i just did a quick try, did'nt even compare to vr sensor ...

The circuitry in the schematic for the V3 board that takes the VR input and converts it to a square wave for the tach input to the processor does exactly this, and you could duplicate this circuit by itself and then add in the circuitry from the processor output to the output from the coil driver ...

in this case, is there a way to get a normal square wave output from the VR circuitry? with some mods if needed? that would generate a square wave the same lenght than my trigger instead on only detecting 60* BTDC?

i know some electronics but i'm not into it deep enough to design my own VR to ...

I still get the same output as the scope above and datalog keept recording RPM...

No, not the one directly above, the second one....

And i already have a 1.5 farad capacitor on the battery.

the voltage is under 2.6v for only 76ms and total lenght about 180 ms

I agree that there are two problems here. The other is what is going on during the 2.4 secs when it is not detecting anything and the rpm stays frozen. When this happens are there still IRQ pulses coming in, but no ignition pulses going out ?

yes, exactly, the irq is still there (but it has some ...

50 RPM = max cranking speed

i think we are chassing more than one problem... this is why we have so much trouble figuring it out.
