Re: HEI Delco Remy vacuum advanced distributor

I have one from a '76 Chevy and I'm leaving it all original for upgrades from older GM points dizzies . I wouldn't try to convert it, but you could. I would get one from a later year GM V8 maybe in '86, and use that one instead, because it should have much better connector options, than the 4-pin ...

Re: MS1 Crashes Laptop on Serial Connection

You might have a bad ground loop going into the laptop. Try a grounding wire from your MS to the grounding terminal on your plug strip, and see what happens?

Re: LS2 Coil Specs / Weak Spark

I built a signal generator
box similar to the one in the video for the purpose of testing coils.
Bill,
In reference to your spark generator box, did you use a circuit based on the 556 chip and very similar to an RC servo bench tester? I have built one for my RC model work, and it seems like a ...

Re: Are BIP373 used in 3-wire Bosch COPs?

The Verona COPs are just a plain ignition coil with NO built-in ignitor, So, fire them just like any ignition coil with a 2-3ms dwell. I have one firing now.

Re: Are BIP373 used in 3-wire Bosch COPs?

I have tried to understand how this Suzuki Verona COP works. There are three pins (Ground, +12V, ECU). I can't determine if it's only a plain coil, or it has an igniter built in.
I measured 0.8 ohms across the 12v & ECU pins (which tells me that's the primary coil, but I get an open circuit ...

Re: Are BIP373 used in 3-wire Bosch COPs?

I think measuring the inductance from a LCR meter would give me some insight, if these might have built-in ignitors

Are BIP373 used in 3-wire Bosch COPs?

I have, what I think are 3-wire Bosch COPs and my COPs pinout looks similar (ECU sig, 12V, GND) to the Bosch COP drawing in Matt's BIP373 data sheet http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/downloads/products/bip373/bip373_datasheet.pdf
How could I verify that my COPs have/don't have the built-in ignitor ...
