MLV analysis manual - HP-torque info

First of all, I am unable to access the manual by the links listed below or any other means. The links end me at a Windows 404 error page. I can't get access from the website to the actual manual. I just end up going from point "A" on the site to point "B" but never end up at the manual. I am ...

Re: wideband switches as narrow

Matt hit the nail on the head. I did not enter the info necessary in tools, calibrate. As soon as the entry was burned, the gauge worked as it should with the stim . I don't know how the info was deleted when the car first started to act up- but I'll cross that bridge if and when it happens again ...

Re: wideband switches as narrow

Another error! TS version is 2.6.19- I definitely need some sleep! The EFI passed all loop back tests as outlined in the manual. I also tried a beta version of TunerStudio to no avail. If an Exhaust gas oxygen gauge is used with the stim, It shows as a 0 to 1 volt gauge. I don't believe this is ...

Re: wideband switches as narrow

I made an error in the post & can find no means to edit the post. I am therefore adding to the post via a reply. The daughter card [processor] I incorrectly referred to as U2. It is, in fact, U1. Also, I omitted to state that the TurnerStudioMS version is V 4.0.19. Since the post, I have used a ...

wideband switches as narrow

My wideband LSU4-2 got the jitters and began to frequently switch [violently] between 12 & 17 to 1 AFR. The car ran poorly & blackened two sets of plugs in about 20 minutes as I attempted to find the root of the problem. Then, it locked on to 12 to 1[as displayed by the TunerStudioMS dash] and ...

Re: "on line" mode signal

After switching laptops, the problem did reoccur after several hours of run time. The problem is with the auto system & not the laptop. So, I'm back to the original question - what signal is used by the laptop to determine "on line". Vcc is connected via pin 1, but I believe that if it were ...

Re: "on line" mode signal

Thank you both for your replys. I understand why I was wrong with the polyfuse theory. I hadn't considered that it would shut down the entire system in the car. The laptop display has resumed normal operation. I have made several uninterrupted logs and all is well- at present. Perhaps switching ...

"on line" mode signal

Does V ref initiate the on line mode? I have a situation occurring with a system that has been running for years [MS 2 Ver. 2.92 , V-3 board]. Recently the system has periods when the signal is broken to the laptop. [The performance of the car is not affected.] I first noticed multiple interruptions ...

Program errors repeat

The logs from TurnerStudio display and function normally . However, I am unable to get past the splash screen that states various parameters are required for analysis . the display shows all of the required - Max/Min work as they should but I can't get rid of the splash problem. I have removed ...

Re: adding alcohol/water to reduce detonation

This post remained unanswered because I did not state my processor & code version. My error!! For those that may review the post during a search, The answer is outlined in the manual under: MegaSquirt II spare port configuration.

adding alcohol/water to reduce detonation

I am running a low pressure mechanical blower through a primary throttle plate that feeds the input of a turbocharger. The turbocharger has a 2nd. throttle plate on the pressure side. The first throttle plate [between the superchargers] has a alcohol/water venturi arrangement that adds the cooling ...

Re: O2 Sensor placement + cheap oscilloscope

Bosch's recommended max is 900 degrees F. for their LSU4.2 wide band. I ran this sensor at 12 inches from the nearest valve in a cast iron manifold [with a washer type heat sink], with no problems for several years. I run fairly rich mixtures & this may prove to be too close for lean [hotter ...

Re: exceeding 100 % duty cycle

I am posting the results of the change for those who might use it for reference. Because I was showing 130% duty cycle at high RPM'S, I multiplied the injection pressure by 130 %, and raised it from 37 PSI max. to 49 PSI max. I then went from alternating to simultaneous to reduce the time between ...

Re: exceeding 100 % duty cycle

Matt, I computed the time required as follows: With two squirts alternating on a six cylinder engine running 6000 RPM, there is one squirt per revolution. So, there are 6000 squirts per minute from each injector or 100 per second. 1/100 of 1 second = 10 Msec. Therefore when the primary injector ...

Re: exceeding 100 % duty cycle

Matt, I apparently did not make myself clear. I believe that the adjustment I wish to make will prevent the injector from going "static". Perhaps I am wrong ,but, It is my understanding that the duty cycle being reported by Megatune of say 110%, is that the pulse time for the individual injection ...

exceeding 100 % duty cycle

During review of several logs, I have found that the duty cycle is exceeding 100 % under full throttle and above 5,200 RPM. A 14.3 AFR is maintained from 5,200 - 7,000 RPM in an attempt to reach a 12.1 AFR. The PW during this period is displaying from 22.7 msec to 23.5 msec. During the initial set ...

Re: Chip sockets?

If sealed properly, particles are "bound out",as the exterior of the barrier is as large as the exterior of the chip. No particles can reach the pins. Bee's wax was used in some of the antique radio stuff, to keep dirt and moisture at bay for 50 years or more. For some individuals, easy substitution ...

Re: Chip sockets?

Sockets are available at Radio Shak. You have to cut them down to fit the required pin count. I socketed everything. You can use electrical grade corrosion inhibitor (grease) to prevent corrosion. This is commonly used for aluminum wire connections in house wiring (entrance) boxes, & is probably ...

You are not the "Lone Ranger" as far as getting excited and wanting it all done now! I had the same problem. You need to follow the steps carefully as they are critical. The senior members have things outlined well, and the assembly guide says "fix the stim! before proceeding further". Haste, in this ...

Re: The Gamma Enrichment Gauge

After review of the above three posts, I have a new understanding of the gammae. I was ignorant of the automotive standards involved. I believed gammae to be a MS exclusive value & had no idea that this factor is common to the automotive industry. I now understand why the norm for this gauge is less ...
