Re: All three led's solid on

Problem solved. I worked my way through the troubleshooting section, everything checked out and then when I put the daughterboard back in and tried to flash it connected and worked wonderfully. Beats me, but I'm happy. Good luck Chevyguy. By the way, I got lots of comm errors using a USB to serial ...

Re: All three led's solid on

Hi guys. Sorry to hijack the thread but I've hit the same problem using a serial connector. MS has been working fine but I changed my toothed wheel setting to 0 so I could use my stim and now have the condition described above. I'm using code 2.89, MS2 v3.

Re: 4AGZE wants to start but gurgles out

Just a few quick things. Firstly, posting your MSQ file will provide all that info without the mega long post. Check your Required fuel calc, and you're using a separate VE and AFR table, but have no o2 sensor attached, so no feedback to use the second table.

Re: VR signal input > RPM > Direct Coil Control

I thought I'd post and say "Thanks Matt" for answering my inane questions. I've managed to solve my problem, but working back over the board in detail has been beneficial. So, my problem was that the earth and signal leads were connected incorrectly even though I thought I'd checked these ...

Re: VR signal input > RPM > Direct Coil Control

So, any initial thoughts on why grounding the -ve from the VR sensor would cause a reset?

Re: VR signal input > RPM > Direct Coil Control

Hi, I've been away from this for a while and just getting back to it. I think my grounding is incorrect as I've got the shield for the signal wire terminating at DB37 pin #2. In going over the external wiring diagram again it would seem that this is where the VR '-'ve should be. Is the ground for ...

Re: VR signal input > RPM > Direct Coil Control

I've been playing with it a little over the christmas break and after speaking with a few people I've got a list of questions.

1. is there any documentation showing expected voltage and wave forms for the input circuits?

2. what is the minimum amount of voltage/amperage that the MS will recognise ...

Re: VR signal input > RPM > Direct Coil Control

No pull up resistor in the input circuit. I worked my way through the inputs and realised that D1 is unpopulated. If I've read the manual correcly this should be jumpered for my application and the diode is only required for triggering off the negative terminal or points. I'll jumper this and try ...

Re: VR signal input > RPM > Direct Coil Control

Thanks Matt. I'll give that a go. I found a thread with a post by Al which steps through testing the input circuit, so I'll dig that up also once I've got this set up. I assume that moving SW2 so that it's open is the same effect as removing it.

EDIT *******************

Okay, so I removed SW2, and ...

Re: VR signal input > RPM > Direct Coil Control

Thanks Matt. That confirms that my lack of RPM in the car is something else and not caused by the formerly missing output components. The stim works fine and shows RPM when the ignition settings are decoder wheel=0. Does this indicates the input circuits are fine and my problem is with the signal ...

VR signal input > RPM > Direct Coil Control

Hi all,

I have an MS2 v3 on v.2.888a code. It's set up for VR input and Direct coil control.

What I'd like to know is if the MS2 would see, and show in datalogs, an RPM signal if the Direct Coil Control components (step 65) aren't installed?

So, my idiotic mistake was I missed installing the ...

Re: Relay Cable

Shield the VR wire, ground to pin 7 I thought, sensor to pin 24. I just used an old loom from the wreckers, cut the wires out. It was a Toyota loom and the O2 sensor was shielded too.
