Re: Tell me why I shouldn't go back to carbs

From OP - The dyno tuner spent several hours on a steady state dyno optimizing the tune for the EFI and has a reputation for being the best tuner in the state.

Looks like the OP got the best person for the job under controllable conditions.[/quote]

I guess I could throw away another $400 on ...

Tell me why I shouldn't go back to carbs

I have changed my induction on my 1970 Datsun SRL311 from 45 mm SK Racing Carburetors to TWM 45 mm 2900 Series throttle bodies. I have attached performance curves with optimized calibration for both setups on the same graph for easy comparison.

I have also attached a datalog from the most recent ...

Re: Hard to start and keep running

I finally discovered the problem. There was air trapped in the fuel line. Multiple cranking attempts didn't push the air pocket out. I discovered the problem by partially opening the Schrader valve for my fuel pressure gauge connection and air came out first. Soon after I vented all the air out, the ...

Re: Hard to start and keep running

I made another engine start attempt last Thursday with the intent of checking the ignition timing while trying to start. With making absolutely no changes after it sat for a week, it started up immediately and purred like a kitten. I let it run up to full op temp and reved it up and it had instant ...

Re: Hard to start and keep running

The spark plugs all look the same, but fuel fouled. I got it to start and run but I changed the plugs anyway. It starts and runs fine for about a minute and starts missing again and dies and won't restart. The timing light indicates way too far advanced for some odd reason. The crank sensor is tight ...

Hard to start and keep running

My car sat idle for a month and tried to start to drive it. It was running perfectly last month and have made no changes whatsoever. It's now hard to start, cranks fine but doesn't fire up easily and when it does, it runs very rough and seems to be missing on a cylinder from the sound and engine ...

Re: Very basic fuel system design question....

It's important that your pressure regulator is designed for controlling downstream pressure for your application. Most regulators for fuel injection systems are for use with a fuel return line and therefore, they are designed for controlling upstream pressure. Anyway, I agree with others here that ...

Re: Tuning AFR

Thanks Al and Lance for the feedback. I think it's time for a dyno tune. I'll post on this forum inquiring a good procedure for dyno tuning.

Tuning AFR

The manual says that the AFR should be tuned for what the engine wants. I manually built my AFR table based on the patterns I see in the manual's AFR table. But how do I determine what AFRs my engine wants , for best torque/power, etc., through the rpm and MAP ranges? My VE table is fairly closely ...

Re: Problems after installing newer code

I didn't expect the trouble I got from installing a newer code on my laptop. But I never did the bootjumper on the MS2. I needed to get the car up and running soon with a few changes, so I reverted back to 2.881 code for now.

So would I realize any benefit from changing from 2.881 code to 2.891? I ...

Odd pattern in my VE table

Last fall, I made several runs datalogging and then performed the VE Analysis in MLV after every run. It was to the point where VE Analysis was making fewer and smaller changes but the pattern of values in my VE table seems odd. See the datalog and VE table from my last analysis in the attached msq ...

Problems after installing newer code

I was using 2.881 code and then downloaded and installed 2.890. Now when I open my latest msq file (one I made using 2.881 code), I get a warning that 9 warnings were written to the audit.log file. Where do I find this? But for now, I'd like to revert back to 2.881 temporarily, but can't find the ...

X-Tau versus Acceleration Wizard

I finally have my VE table dialed in very close so I think it's time to focus on acceleration enrichment. After studying the manual, it's unclear what method to use, X-Tau or Accel Wizard in Megatune for my application. I have individual throttle bodies, so I would like a recommendation on which ...

MLV question

I've discovered that I have not been using MLV properly for analyzing my VE table. One of the steps in the MLV HELP for VE Analysis instructs to open the MSQ file, but when I try to open the MSQ file using MLV, it does not look for MSQ files, so I wrongly assumed that it was reading my msq file when ...

Please tell me more about Alpha-N. Hey a73camaro guy, I just noticed you're not too far away from me. Let's go skiing sometime.

Re: odd starting attempt

a73camaro,
Thanks for your reply. My intake manifold has separate runners for each cylinder. There is a port on each of the 4 intake runners and I made a tubing manifold that connects to all 4 ports on the intake manifold which connects to the MAP sensor. You can see this in the photo below. It's ...

Re: Question re: fuel correction

i don't see the column for E-85 fuel correction and I would like too. How do i make that happen, is it a default on Megalogviewer?
It's in the Megatune datalog, an Excel file.
