Re: Siamesed intake ports, batch fire injectors in manifold?

yeah, this engine is quite the bad step child.... I appreciate that you did you're own digging on this.

So, what you're saying is 5 would probably steal all of the fuel and 7 would run lean. Maybe I could build some sort of injector plate between the turbo and the intake so all fuel is squirted ...

Re: Siamesed intake ports, batch fire injectors in manifold?

A correction.... I said "two" runners, obviously there are 4 runners, for 8 cylinders.

Siamesed intake ports, batch fire injectors in manifold?

I have a pontiac 301 V8 turbo that has been undergoing a MS conversion for some time. It is a draw through setup, previously fueled by a CCC roch quadrajet. I have MS all wired in and running, ready to tune. I'm already finding out that I don't have near enough air flow, nor injector capacity.

I ...

Re: Innovate LC-1 Ground Wires

Okay, bring the innovate grounds and the MS back to the head... that simplifies a few things for me anyway. Thanks for the info gents.

Re: Innovate LC-1 Ground Wires

Even if MS is grounded at the battery? Or should I perhaps ground it at the cylinder head as well? That would save me from running another 4 feet of wire to the battery... for some reason I had it in my head that grounding to the battery was optimal.

Innovate LC-1 Ground Wires

The manner in which the white and the blue wires are grounded appears to be pretty finicky and touchy to feedback. I have a 12 awg wire coming back from the battery to MS2 for my main ground. The relay box is inside the cab, and I was tempted to just tie all of the wires to this one ground feed near ...

Re: Windeband O2 Sensor in uppipe?

Thanks for the info... I guess I just needed someone to force me to do it :).

The only good spot I have to place it now is about 40-50" downstream. I've seen evidence in posts that this is doable, although perhaps not ideal this far away.

My down pipe is a bit mangled, and will ultimately get ...

Windeband O2 Sensor in uppipe?

I have a 1981 turbo 301 pontiac firebird that is under conversion... the stock location for the O2 sensor was in the Uppipe pre-turbo. From what I'm seeing, you want the sensor to be post turbo? Are standard O2 sensors not as sensitive to the pressures pre-turbo, or did they just not know any better ...

Re: Manifold air temp for draw through turbo

I am a little familiar with that set up as I used to have the 1981 10th anniversary turbo edition (went to rust heaven) . From what I remember, the carburetor is mounted on a engine coolant plenum. Therefore assuming you get the same water temp through the plenum as the engine water temp. My 1st ...

Re: Manifold air temp for draw through turbo

Well... if you say that's all I need. I haven't tuned one of these before so I guess I really don't know what I need.

What if it is only 5 degrees out though and I'm starting it? The turbo won't really be spooled up so I doubt it'll raise the temp all that much.

Re: Manifold air temp for draw through turbo

I checked out those dodge sensors from the mid 90s... they do have a smaller thread, open cage temp sensor. They also reside in the manifold, in a similar location as where I would put it, so I think they would work.

I send BWD a question on resistance specs for those sensors, and they actually ...

Re: Manifold air temp for draw through turbo

Well, I found this sensor:

Sounds promising. They aren't giving them away though. Open element is a must I would assume, and it ...

Sound like a good place to start... now I just need to find a 1/8 NPT IAT sensor.

Re: Manifold air temp for draw through turbo

While you could put the IAT in the manifold, I'd rather redesign this so there's an intercooler involved, and put the IAT sensor downstream of the intercooler, or even in the intercooler end tank.

Yeah, an intercooler would be nice, but it would be a major redesign. The way this is setup and ...

Manifold air temp for draw through turbo

I'm installing a MS system on a 1981 301 V8 turbo pontiac firebird. The stock fuel system is a draw through carb setup, running a 850cfm quadrajet.

I have an IAT sensor, but from what I've been reading with a turbo setup, you want the air temp sensor downstream from the turbo. Are there any ...

Re: Coupling relay cables

Well I'm glad you gents chimed in before I bought another $75 relay cable. It sounds like inside the cab is the preferred choice anyway. I like that last relay station from summit too... I'll need something like that to power some other devices (electric fans, water injection, TCC...)

Thanks guys

Well... I didn't hear "NO!" from anybody, so I guess I'll give it a shot :). No answer is better than a bad answer. My other thought was just build a new cable, but this sounds easier :).

Coupling relay cables

I ordered the complete carb conversion kit some time ago... I finally got the engine cleaned up and the stock harness removed. I figured the relay box with the relay cable was the simplest solution to start with... I ran into one problem though, the 4' cable is not long enough. The only place to ...

Re: Summit Fuel Pump 85 psi / 43gph

I'm not sure of your setup but it seems to me that you could then use the existing 1/4" return for the vent. Just thinking out loud here...........

Ken

I hear that... I could us the 5/16 line for the fuel return, and us the 1/4 for the vent - I'm just not sure what I'd vent it to. I really don't ...
