Re: MSII With a Supercharger

Thanks, Matt. I was thinking that might be the case.

MSII With a Supercharger

Wasn't sure exactly which forum to post in, but it's a fairly general question so I'll try here. I'm in the process of building a small block Ford. Plans call for MSII running fuel and ignition and a Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger. The supercharger bolts onto the stock lower EFI intake and ...

Re: Ideal Air Temp Sensor Location With Supercharger

Thanks for the reply, Lance. That's the location that made the most sense to me, but I thought I'd better ask rather than ASSume. The reasoning behind it makes perfect sense, too - and also explains why they moved it ahead of the throttle body when they changed to mass air. I would imagine the same ...

Ideal Air Temp Sensor Location With Supercharger

The engine and manifold system I'm setting up with my MSII originally ran a speed density ECM and had the IAT sensor screwed into one of the intake runners near the cylinder head. In later years, the switch was made to mass air and the IAT sensor was relocated to the air cleaner duct upstream of the ...

Re: Fuel System Design for a Supercharger

Thanks, Matt. I figured it would be OK, but I try to plan for everything. I've also read that the resolution of the MSII processor helps alot when it comes to tuning with larger injectors.

Fuel System Design for a Supercharger

I've been planning and accumulating parts for the new powertrain for my tow rig. I had planned on a Ford 5.0L stroked to 347 CI with a truck spec EFI setup and an MSII. My plans changed a little this weekend. I bought a supercharger kit designed for the intake system I planned to use at a swap meet ...

Re: Dead MS2 Daughterboard?

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. They are much appreciated. I finally found the problem and all the components are OK after all. It wasn't the solder flux on the JimStim. I had switched over from the wall wart to my regulated DC power supply immediately after cleaning the flux off the board ...

Re: Dead MS2 Daughterboard?

I've got another computer I can try tonight, but the laptop I'm using is the same one I used before without a problem. It does have a real serial port and I've tried using both the onboard port and a USB/serial converter. Exact same thing either way.

On another note, I DID manage to get the ...

Re: Dead MS2 Daughterboard?

One last note - I had serious doubts that anything on the main board itself was causing the problem, but just to rule it out, I plugged the MSII daughterboard into a bread board and supplied an external 5V to the necessary pins from a regulated power supply. The only jumpers to the main board were ...

Re: Dead MS2 Daughterboard?

Here's what I get when I try to load firmware:

Re: Dead MS2 Daughterboard?

It's very unlikely there is static damage on assembled components. The risk is small even when handling semiconductors during assembly, unless all your clothes and everything around you is made of artificial fibre. ;-)

I completely agree. I'm an electrical tech by trade and I deal with boards ...

Dead MS2 Daughterboard?

Due to an unexpected and hasty job change forced by the economy, my MegaSquirt project had to be quickly packed up and mothballed 2 years ago shortly after I got it built. It's an MS2 daughterboard on a V3.0 mainboard running V2.88 code. I also have a relay board and a JimStim. At that time, it ...
