Re: Still having trouble tuning - the never ending battle

I am developing a web page to help people identify if they really need blended tuning. Here is what I have come up with so far. www.ncs-stl.com/tuning The general conciseness is Speed Density works quite well for the vast majority of all motors. Implementing blending is very late in the tuning proce...

Re: Any reason not to use Analyze Live under boost?

I have created a cell that I call VENext in MLV.

[Gve]*[AFR]*[Gego]/(100*[AFR Target])

Note that it changes a little with code versions but the resulting output is great for the sanity check.

Re: megasqirt/microsquirt on a mercury 2.5 race outboard

I found that the MAP that I found under the throttle body was almost useless. If that MAP sensor is in the crank case it may be usable. It will be a challenge to get AE to work without a TPS and without a usable MAP signal to trigger off of. I am leaning had in the direction of adding a TPS somewher...

Re: megasqirt/microsquirt on a mercury 2.5 race outboard

There are two basic types of cam/crank sensors out there. VR sensors are essentially just a magnet with two wire coming out. Teeth normally sail past this thing and it generates some sort of sin wave looking signal to the Squirt. The sin wave gets bigger (more voltage) as the speed of the teeth incr...

Can people see this? Sam may not be able to post pics. My concern is the temp on the o2 sensor that is soo close to the exhaust and the turbo. Keep in mind that this is a top speed car so exhaust temps are a real issue. Eric, Geek, Bruce ... any help would be great. The Harley guys are a little over...

I love the bling factor on this setup. The problem that can be a huge issue with this sort of setup is with reversion and the fuel cloud the forms upstream of where the fuel is introduced. This can be huge with Webber side drafts when allowed the be out in the airstream. The fuel gets blown right of...

But the real question is what is the MAP compared to ambiant air pressure with that throttle body and at max RPM. I have seen pressure drops of from nearly 0 kPa to 8 kPa depending on the CAI/filter/MAF/throttle combination.

I was ignoring the throttle shaft size and for that matter, the air sample tube in the MAF calc but it is amazing how large the throttles have to be to keep the air velosity down. I found out about this when the CRX went from four individule air horns to an airbox with a single 3" inlet air fil...

I like to keep the intake air velosity below about 90 ft/sec or about 60 MPH. My simple minded logic is if you ever stick your hand out the window at 60 MPH that is about the time the loads start going up. Remember that drag is a squared function. For fun I ran a few napkin calcs on a typical 1200 c...

Are you thinking that you need/want 4 throttle blades or one single throttle blade. If you are going to 4 ITB's the I would lean in the direction of the factory motorcycle setups. About 42mm. If you are going for one big hole I would look at the Honda Accord piece. Remember that small angle changes ...
