Re: TS + Ubuntu serial port not found

Come back to this after a bit of a hiatus, looks like you need to add yourself to the dialout group (like for modems, remember those?) to get access to the serial port.

TS + Ubuntu serial port not found

This may be a n00b sort of question but I've googled, read the forums, etc. to no avail.

I'm trying to get TunerStudio running on Ubuntu (14.04 LTS) but no matter what I try it will not admit that my serial port exists.

The PC has a hardware serial port and Ubuntu detects it properly:

$ dmesg ...

Re: Q14 gone thermonuclear, hole in PCB, salvage???

Close:
The V3 PCB consists of four layers (top, bottom, and two inner layers), compared to only two layers on the V1.01 and V2.2 boards. The inner layers used for power and ground planes,

Which says to me you need to be careful about the inner layers/tracks shorting together, very hard to be sure ...

Re: Q14 gone thermonuclear, hole in PCB, salvage???

I'm sure you're right with the reasons for not publishing, I was kinda hoping someone who knows might be able to cast an opinion or even a small glimpse of the square cm of PCB around that transistor. Maybe they're all too busy with the shiny new MS3 stuff to talk to us luddites running MS1 :lol ...

Q14 gone thermonuclear, hole in PCB, salvage???

A V3 PCB has come to me that has a "significant" fault with it, namely Q14 has exploded and blown a hole straight through the PCB  if you imagine taking a ~6mm drill and running it through the PCB directly where the transistor is supposed to be, that's what it looks like, but with charred ...

I think you need slightly older cars, Escorts etc. and it's usually in the engine bay I believe. There are pictures on the MS'n'EDIS website under "finding EDIS europe" I think.

Short answer - it should work. BMW did this on touring cars as a second bank of injectors, and my cousin is building a similar setup on his BMW. Many TBI setups fire onto the throttle plate.

The crank sensor (VR sensor) wire needs to be shielded.

When you say you think you're maxing out your injectors, either you are or you aren't - does the duty cycle hit more than ~80-90%? If so, they're maxed out and need to be bigger. If not, you're not maxing them out and it's something else.

What SDS actually say is:
The Lucas type buries the disc up ...

If you have the choice, may as well go Hi-Z as far as I can tell.

Some cars run low-Z with resistors rather than low-Z and PWM.

It certainly is - and I'm even happier now I've RTFM and found how to make the backlight work on the Palm :RTFM:

Up and working - PalmLog on Palm Vx, brilliant!

Since I'm too poor to afford an LCDash or even a set of proper gauges, I got on eBay and won three Palm pc's (two Vx and one IIIc) for a total of £25 including the postage - bargain!

I'm dead chuffed

A bit more info would be helpful :P

If you are keeping the stock ignition system OR the tach is fed from the alternator W terminal (which I think is unlikely on a '68 ) then you are OK.

IF you have gone for a different ignition system, you need to know how the tach gets it's feed. If it is ...

Some sites and othe for finding fuel injector specifications

Some more Rover V8 injectors, more info as I find it...

BOSCH:
0 280 150 105 (grey) - 3.5 - 18.1lb/hr @ 43psi
0 280 150 227 (black) - 3.9 - ? Looks like they were in 3.5's too
0 280 155 787 (green) - 4.6

Presumably specs are similar to the Lucas ones - Low-Z.

Also some more pictures and things to ...

Air temp sensor location

Mine is just swinging loose in the engine bay - not ideal but it works.

Just got to work out a route to get it into the intake whilst remaining 100% waterproof.

Oh, don't use silicone sealant to stick it in - your lambda sensor won't thank you for it!
