Great thread.
I'll post my experiences and thoughts on the matter.
Megamanual instructs to run as lean as possible for good fuel economy (at cruise).

My engine seems to be a bit particular (i think ~260 deg cam is quite long for oem).

yeah, having formulas it really neet, problem it's hard to find out the indictance of a particular coil. hardly any coild have this specified either on the coil or in some documentation. even msd blaster2 coil, which I run.... no info on manufacturers website wither regarding suggested dwell or ...

I have crushed 2 FPR on a turbo dodge , (1) 1/16 of an inch crush netted me 5-6lbs across the board, (2) I have also cut off the end w/ the vac nipple and made a new can out of exhaust pipe and nuts and some long screws from a Q-jet ,some epoxy, a centering ring for the spring, result adjustable ...

modyfying stock fuel pressure regulator

Hello.

I heard there is a way of modyfyinf almost any stock fuel pressure regulator to give higher fuel pressure. But I'm not sure how. I dont know anybody that did it, but i heard severl confilcting theories:

-it has to be open and spring inside has to be crushed (compressed ?)
-it has to be open ...

easy for you to say.

I run MS2, so i dont have tacho pin out (AFAIK)

basically i need to know what kind of signal e30 tacho needs. is it +ve every TDC or every single crank revolution or what.... or is it getting grounded or d'oh! ?

i got the same issue...

what tacho output ? which pin on ms connector ? can you be more specific ? can i connect it directly or do I need to wire it through resistor/diode ?

it is my understanding that you can only calibrate the o2 in MS II
well, i'm not too familiar with ms'n's, so you might be right...

go to lm programmer and set sensor response to 1/8 sec. it will basically average readin over 1/8 second, making it nice and stable.

AND/OR

if you are running ms2, you might be able to do input smoothing in the general menu

AND/OR

you might be getting interference from e.g. injector or coil ...

I know it's an old post, but

I found that all EJ series subaru engines have a VR sensor on the front of the crank, which is very easy to access/remove. I'm using on on my bmw e30 325i ms conversion.
