Hey, those make great power supplies for Amiga 500s! ;-) Except they
are bigger than a Mac Mini..

You can use an ATX power supply, if you link the green cable to black earth, it tells the PSU to switch on.

Well spotted Ian. They are my favourite source of power for all my elec projects when testing - nice clean voltage at 12 and 5 - ideal for logic level and automotive (without noise) testing.
MSnS-E29q On a V2.2 was powering a 3S-GTE with stock sensors hopefully to approx 300 bhp until i blew a CPU

What a cool link! I'm going to builld one right away -- it'll come in handy for far more than just my MegaSquirt project...

For MS testing, I have a 2-amp 12-volt regulated power supply... It puts out precisely 12.00 volts as measured by my DVM, from zero load all the way to its 2-amp limit. Very well-reguated, indeed, and it has a built-in, resettable circuit-breaker that pops if you accidentally exceed its 2-amp current-limit. But it was an expensive piece of equipment (around $100, if I'm remembering correctly) that I've owned for more than 10 years... Didn't buy it just for this MS project, that's for sure... Honestly, I can't remember exactly why I bought it, but it's been handy to have...

Hi I would like to know if I can use a car battery to hook up to my stimulator for testing? It is 12 volt and 300 amp cranking power..

You could use a car battery but if you do, put a low amperage fuse (about 1A) between the battery and the stim. A battery can provide a huge current that will fry the components and board if there is something not right with the assembly. I may even start a fire.
