Expanding coolant temp limits in MT for aircooled engines
Read the manual to see if your question is answered there before posting. Many users will not reply if the answer is already available in the manual.
If your question is about troubleshooting, configuration, or tuning, you MUST include your processor type (MS-I or MS-II) and code version in your post. If your question is about PCB assembly or modifications, you must also include the main board version number (1.01, 2.2 or 3.0).
If you have questions about MS1/Extra or MS2/Extra code configuration or tuning, please post them at www.msextra.com Such questions posted here will be moved to: a temporary MSextra sub-forum, where they will be removed after 7 days

Expanding coolant temp limits in MT for aircooled engines
Assuming I was able to work out any limits in the MS2Extra code, could MT work with a greater temp range like -40F to +500F? In other words, are all temp limits such as gauges and input boxes defined by the INI file or are there limits built into the software itself?
My goal is to put a menu option (or configurator option) that will allow the user to select between air-cooled and water-cooled and then adjust the various limits for input boxes accordingly.
Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Mike
MegaTune uses the lookup table values from the thermfactor.inc file. If you generate a custom thermfactor.inc file that doesn't rail at 215 degF, then MegaTune will happily use it and display proper temps far beyond the MS limits.
Roger.
(of course!) injected 13B rotary.

I'm going to adjust all the INI temp limits and compile my new coolant lookup table into MS2Extra. I'll letcha know how it goes!
Thanks for all your help!!

But yeah, MT seems to handle the temps ok. It was so neat when I saw it go up to 500!!
Now to start messing with all the inputs and stuff like that in the INI file.
cool cool cool cool! ... well.. actually.. hot hot hot!! haha!
thanks!

Just added this to the 2.50 beta version:
Code: Select all
[Defaults]
genThermLoTemp = -200.0
genThermHiTemp = 600.0Eric

I totally would have, but I'm on a trip to Oregon to do some rafting for a week. Yes, let's talk about defaults as they need updating for the ms2extra side as well, so we might as well attack it all at once.efahl wrote:Mike,
Ok, we'll fix the defaults before we publish them in the ini file...
I'm down in San Clemente at work for the week. I meant to ask where you were on Saturday? You should have popped over to Ontario for the meet at Spectre.
Eric
Let me know when you're ready and I'll do what I can to help out.
Thanks!
