Identifying my TBI

Post by JimIsbell »

I have ordered a MS 1 ver 2.2 and am expecting it any day now.

I acquired a TBI unit that I think can be adapted to the GM 229 V6 in my '83 El Camino. The EC currently has a Quadra Jet on it with a 4 barrel intake manifold.

The TBI I have is two barrel and has 43mm barrels. I do not know what it came off of, but it has the following numbers stamped on the base casting:

17090061
1900 KCD

Can anyone tell me;

1) What the lbs/hr rating of the injectors might be?

2) What are the three pipes on one side and one on the other that look like perhaps vacuum fittings?

3) Can I just plug them up?

4) what it came off of so I can order a rebuild kit?

5) What is the four connector device for? I know what the three connector device is, the TPS, but dont know what the other is.

That TBI is off a 1990 5.7l Chevy truck, see http://www.holley.com/data/Catalogs/Reman/37.pdf

It has 2 65lbhr injectors at 15psi.

The four wire connection is the Idle air control Stepper Motor.

Yes you should plug all the vacuum connections you don't need, the big one in the middle is for your Vacuum Brake Booster.

This type of TBI should work just fine on your V6 given you are using Megasquirt. The MS2 daughterboard has stepper idle control.
