EDIS donor location - UK

Post by dorset_clive »

I have searched both the FAQs and here on the forum, but can't find an answer:

For UK cars, where is the EDIS module located on donor vehicles - Fiesta and Mondeo seem to most popular in my local scrap yard?

I can find the coil pack and the VR sensor is easier to remove from a Fiesta, but I haven't been able to trace the wiring through the bulkhead to the module itself.

Any here would be appreciated!

I think you need slightly older cars, Escorts etc. and it's usually in the engine bay I believe. There are pictures on the MS'n'EDIS website under "finding EDIS europe" I think.

If you're tracing wire through the bulkhead into the car, you probably won't find it. :) On US Fords, the EDIS module is mounted under the hood near the fuse box, usually on the left side fender. If you're trying to find it by tracing wires, the coil feed wires and the crankshaft position sensor wire go directly to it.

Find one on eBay to get a picture of what it looks like. Shouldn't be hard to locate.

Ah, here's the page mentioned above:

If you can't find one locally, they show up on US eBay quite often.

Interesting to see on the pics page, in the Mondeo, the EDIS module is shown on the bulkhead in the engine bay.

I am reasonably sure in the couple of Mondeos I looked at, it wasn't there - the cable from the coil pack went through the bulkhead. I'll have to have a look at ther weekend.

I read somehere that on mondeos Edis is integrated into ECU, thats why you can't find one. Most escorts have it... get it from there. I got mine from 1.6 EFI 92 make escort.

Stuff :x

I've just managed to be given a free Mondeo, which I was going to use as a donor for the EDIS and then scrap it.

Anybody know for sure - I really need to have a good look at this one.

It says that separate ignition module is fitted to automatic transmission model only...

And it would be mounted on the bulkhead behing the inlet manifold

Hi Scott

That's very generous. The "project" has slowed a bit (for which read stopped, cos lots of other things got in the way, not the least being badly damaging the rally car, which was where it was going to be fitted).

Let me know how much the postage is going to be and we'll sort something out.

TTFN!
