Create tach signal to vw Golf MK1.

Hi All :)

Have anyone tried that? what kind of signal does the original tacho need? im running wasted spark, so i cant take it from a ignition coil :(
Anyone know what to do?

Its a 1983 Golf Cabrio mk1, with MSII in it..

These tachos are driven by the flyback pulse of the ignition coil (~100-200V).
You could try the EDIS diode trick with four diodes, see the last chapter here.
Or another possibility is a tacho out signal (AFAIK this in only available in the extra code) and modify your tacho (the input circuit) so that no high voltage is needed to trigger. You might find some topics about this if you search for EDIS and tacho on the forum. A little additional info: my 2nd gen VW tacho has a SAK215 IC in it, yours probably have the same, too.
