monitor mode failed

hi all, i cannot get my msII embedded code facility to upload the 2.888 code up. i get this message

i have used diff pc's and tried diff code, to no avail. please help. what is monitor mode?

This looks like a problem with the COM port settings. I would first check to be sure COM4 is the correct port.

hi, yes comm port 4 is correct.

any other ideas?

Is this a built in COM port or a USB adapter?

its a usb adapter,

but it was giving the same symptoms on a different pc with a 9 pin to serial or parralell (cant remember) port connector.....

i cant be the lead surely?

It is possible it might be the cable if that's what you're asking. Try the loopback test both with pins 12 & 13 jumpered, and with the jumper removed. If it still loops back without the jumper, it could be a short on the MS or it could be the cable.

Yes, on the U1 chip, as described in the assembly directions.
