fuel pump prime time question...

Post by Army of Six »

what is the easiest way to increase the fuel pump prime time. is it somewhere in megatune or do i have to change an ini file? it is currently at around 3 seconds and then turns off. that doesnt seem to be enough time to get the air out of the lines and get the pressure up, which makes for more cranking before it starts. i noticed that the few times i turn the key once (not cranking), let the pump prime, turn it off and quickly turn it on to re prime the original prime and then start cranking it takes less time for it to fire.

thanks,
Vic

Although you are not supposed to use the priming as a starting assistant, the prime pulsewidth is in MT under "Tuning-Warmup Wizard" in MS2. Also under "Other Fuel Settings-Two Point Prime" if you are using 2 point instead of tables.

im not talking about the priming PW. im talking about the fuel pump relay itself. i dont need any PW from the injectors, i would simply like to have the fuel pump to stay on for more than 3 seconds without it seeing "cranking"

As far as I know, priming is the only way to use MS to turn on the fuel pump without cranking the engine.

Increasing the priming time would have this effect. The PW of the injectors and the additional fuel pump time should bleed the air out of the system, through the injectors and the return line. So increasing the prime pulse width should do what you wanted it to do.
