Shielded wiring questions

Have a couple of questions about shielded wires - specifically the PIP/SAW and VR sensor wires.

PIP/SAW wiring - do these need to be individual shielded? Can a twisted pair inside common shielding be used instead? This would be both for relay board to EDIS module, as well as relay board to MS.

Can quick disconnect plugs be used on the PIP/SAW and VR sensor wiring, either in-line or near the realy board? These would include an extra pin in the connector for shield connection pass-through - will this cause any problems with noise with the short "non-shielded" portion of wiring through the plug?

My VR sensor already has a factory quick disconnect plug I'd like to re-use, it is in-line down near the engine block, and installing a similar plug on the relay board to EDIS wiring will make R&R work a whole lot easier.

They don't need individual shielding, and your idea sounds like it should work OK.

IIRC, it's done that way in the Ford harness. Just another data point.

FWIW, I already had a length of nice 2-conductor 20AWG braided shield wire I'm going to use. But - I noted (before I found what I already had!) this is very difficult to find, let alone in less than 100ft. coils. But - I did come across a great source that may help someone else (or me in the future!):

FWIW, I already had a length of nice 2-conductor 20AWG braided shield wire I'm going to use. But - I noted (before I found what I already had!) this is very difficult to find, let alone in less than 100ft. coils. But - I did come across a great source that may help someone else (or me in the future!):

Yes, Aircraft Spruce has helped a lot. For shielded wires in shorter lengths, consider that there are many shielded audio and video cables that are single and multi-conductor with various shielding schemes. My last VR cable was a 25 foot SS braided-shield microphone extension on FleaBay - 99 cents with free shipping.
