Loopback problem

Post by nathan211 »

I do not get any response in hyperterm or miniterm when the processor is installed. I can remove the processor and jumper pins 12 and 13 and everything works fine. All other functions seem to work in megatune with the stim plugged in. Is this a problem with the processor? I have another processor, but it was one I accidentally bought from digikey, so It doesn't have any code on it. I have not tried this in any vehicle yet. Since everything else seems to work maybe this will work ok?
Board is V 2.2 and has the flyback board installed.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks
Nathan

Yes megatune seems to work fine, and all the indications in megatune change as you turn the knobs on the stim. And yes it is the Megasquirt 1. I tried to reload the code to see if that might help, but it would not load. I am going to try to attach the screen shot from portchecker and also from the ms I/II downloader when I tried the code load. Could this be caused by a power problem, I am using a 9 volt battery on the stim and have read that the stim may not always work well with a 9 volt battery.

Thanks

OK, so the MegaSquirt responds when you use the stim? That would tell me all is working fine. Does the terminal program in megatune work in communicating with the megasquirt? With the processor installed, and in mini-term, send a capital S "S" You should get something back.

When you run the downloader, have you jumped the boot loader header?

Yes, megasquirt works with stim and displays on megatune.
The miniterm program in megatune does not seem to be working with megasquirt. When I type a capital S, only a capital S is displayed like this:
S
no other info is displayed.
I can not get hyperterm or miniterm in tunerstudio to work either
But like I said in my first post, I can remove the processor and jumper 12 and 13 and I get the letters repeated. But with the processer installed, nothing happens.
And Yes I have the boot "H1" jumpered when I run the downloader.

When boot loader header is jumpered, do the stim lights act like normal, or are they supposed to shut off and stop blinking?

I would be happy to provide any additional screenshots if they would help.

Thanks
Nathan
