throttle position closed switch

Post by 357supermagnum »

My wiring is with different colours:

1. black/brown
2. brown/black
3. black
4. to ground
5.
6.green/vio

megasquirt sends +5vdc along the 5vref wire to the tps unit,
and a return signal is sent to MS on the tps wire.

My question is, is it likely that the switch on that TPS unit will cause any wrong values/trouble ?
i want to keep the ECU harness as stock, so i dont want to cut that BRN/BLK wire ( i refer to the one on the picture )

You should disconnect the brown/black that goes between the switch and tps, or mechanically modify the setup such that the switch is never closed, even at closed throttle.

The reason being that if the closed switch as it's wired now causes a transition/step in the tps value, the ecu in many cases will pick that up as a throttle blip and kick in accel enrichment.

ill disconnect that wire then, or leave the green/vio unconnected. i am going to keep the original wiring loom compatible with the stock ECU.
