how to start?

my experience are two ms2extra 2.1.0 running on road cars.i tune they with megalog wiever and my laptop.
my next project is a race car motorcicle engine equipped.i need a portable device to record session
a guy sell me a cheapy acer n30 win mob equipped,but i read this is not a software ms compatible.its thrue?
what is the best way to find a portable record device?using acer or buying a old palm?

just find a palm m105 now i look for drivers,cable and installation.

ok,installation is ready,only some problems.
i connect palm to ms+stim,it connect immediatly and reads correct value,but i cannot save setup changes on palmlog.
i read on manual"exit and restart palmlog" but if i put for example ctemp in celsius when come back to value page i read in farenhait.dont change the setup.
second drawback is putting log saved file into pc.
i save file in burst mode but window dont change to "static"and if open file its empty.
i look at custom ini file,its correct.disconnect cable ,palm show"connection problem"
palm m105,ms2extra 2.1.0.,ibmx40 pc direct 232 connect
i appreciate a lot this software,please can anyone help me!

My Palm's battery died, and I haven't done this since last year, so my memory might not be accurate.

I assume that you have learned how to capture the log data on the palm. There is a separate window to select one of three log files and to view the file size. If the file size is zero you haven't captured any log data. On that window is an upload menu choice, which is used to transfer the selected file to MT or TS. I have found on my palm that correctly clicking the upload function is somewhat difficult, and I don't think the palm has any indication of whether it is uploading or not. I need to check the MT or TS screen to confirm that the upload is proceeding.

Note: MT has a separate configuration for the burst mode logging serial port from the MS serial port configuration. Here is part of my custom.ini for MT:

In order to upload the log file:
* Open MT or TS
* Open the proper msq (very important)
* Start bust mode logging
* On the Palm, select Upload from the log files screen
* You should see a log record count incrementing. If not, something's not working
* When the record count stops incrementing, the file transfer is complete
* Stop burst mode logging
* Open the log file with MegaLogViewer

I don't know anything about your issue with saving settings. I always use Farenheit. However, I don't believe it should affect the logging function. The Palm just records the raw bytes from the MS, then uploads those raw bytes. It doesn't matter whether Palm correctly understands the data.

i check customini file,its ok.
when i select the file,to download it to pc,palm show"treansfer data to pc"but megatune stay in static,dont receive data.
rs232 connection is ok because if i remove cable palm show "connection problem"
i like celsius but farenhait isnt a problem,map better in kPa(no psi),but i drive alfa-n isnt neccessary.
the only big problem is saved the code configuration(for my ms2extra is A 152)

i'm having the same issues at the moment, sometimes i get titles for the columns, it seems to think it's working but megatune gets nothing...

i am now registered at tunerstudio,but havent car to test my palm!its out for a race!next week i am ready to continue my test.
i hope ts work better with palm.

but now my friend take my a m130!!!
i immediatly order a 232 cable,standard is usb.

now i have a "new"palm m130,and a rs232 sinc cable.
i test it on my laptop,and hotsincr go well.
i connect it on a ms2 with a home made null modem adapter and it shows immediatly "connect",i can watch my parameters,but if i select big font mode ,palm stopped,i must reset it.i read it is normal with a ms2.
i create a little file on palm using a stim without rpm,only change mat,tps and ct.
first problem i am not able to save palmtune settings,i made change and exit palmlog,but when restart program it shows standard settings
in second i am not able to download this file in mt.check custom ini file its ok,palm shows"uploading file to megatune",mt shows"static" and tunerstudio shows"polling device"but saved files are empty.if i push exit palm show "connection problem"
i think having a good connection but some software conflict....my brain are in tilt mode...

I just got this working on my setup, so my experience might be helpful.

I have a Palm m100 running with MS-I.
I made a null modem adapter (swap pins 2 and 3, 5 straight through) to communicate with MS-I. There's a bunch of setup for PalmLog and PalmTune, depending on your version or ECU firmware. The PalmTune/PalmLog website describes it well. Just follow the directions.

I was able to log data with the Palm, but I had difficulty uploading to the MegaTune on the PC. There are three important details:

1. Make sure HotSync manager is not running, it will conflict with MegaTune
2. Use a straight through cable from the Palm to the PC
3. Set the baud rate in the custom.ini for your project to 115200 and check your comm port

I had the wrong port, then the wrong baud rate. It's not well documented, but once I looked at the source for PalmLog, it was clear that upload uses 115200 baud as opposed to 9600 baud for MS-I communications.

Once I got that set, it worked fine.

i think rs232 cable is bad.i buy this 130 palm to my friend,condition like new,box istructions ,software,ecc.but it has a usb base.i buy a chinese 232 cable,model like accessory catalog show.
it communicate well with ms(home made null modem adapter connected)but not communicate with tunerstudio(without adapter)
is there a schematic of this cable?to test it.
