Can't get any rpm signal

Post by Koff »

Hi!
I am trying to run ms2 on my Opel Kadett. It's an 2,5l 4cyl engine. I have Edis4 wired to my ms. When i try to start the engine, the rpm peaks to around 120rpm, then it falls to zero again.
Anyone have any idè what could be the problem?

Thanks
Kristoffer :)

Do you mean it's starting from cold, revving to 1200 rpm, then cutting out?

If so, it sounds like the cranking pulses are about right, but the warm-up mixture too lean.

No, it is not fireing at all! But i have found out some more now! My Edis is wired like this: http://avs.spot-mate.com/images/tech/edis4.jpg The vr sensor is sending it's signal to the edis unit. But what kind of signals should the edis modul send to the coils?

It sends pretty well the same sort of signal to the coils as any other coil based system. It should be a pulse to build up the flux in the coil which when stopped causes the spark due to the flux collapsing.
The EDIS system should fire regardless even when not connected to MS - it has a limp home function. If the VR sensor is correctly related to the trigger wheel this should be a constant 10 degrees BTDC. Have you used a timing strobe light to check the spark is approximately timed correctly?
