I've just started on my install of a MS2 and i'm intending on using EDIS 4 for Ignition. For wiring it up I bought a wiring harness from DIYAutoTune, all good till I got to wiring up the EDIS module...
I noticed that I have one shielded wire for PIP on pin 24 and a plain 20 gauge TXL wire for SAW on pin 36. I presume it was done this way with a different ignition system in mind, but is it possible to run the SAW signal on non-shielded wire, or is it essential for it to be shielded?

I have stripped a few original looms from Ford and the PIP/SAW wires are bundled together and shielded by alu foil wrapping.
The alu foil is connected to pin 7 at the EDIS plug and not connected at the other end.
I have done some MS/EDIS installs and use the same principle , ie a 2 core shielded cable for PIP/SAW and screen connected to pin 7 at EDIS.
The SAW signal is a 5 V signal. Do not know how susceptible it is to noise , I use a 470 Ohm 5 V pull SAW pullup resistor in the MS

We've had several customers use unshielded SAW wire without reporting any problems. I'm sure it gets some advantage from shielding, but it's not mandatory.
