What's the deal with Symtech Labs? They're not on the approved vendors list, and the approved vendors list clearly states NOT to buy from anyone not on that list. I know the list was updated recently, Glen's Garage was removed from it. Makes me wonder if Symtech Labs is regarded in the same light as Glen's Garage?

www.symtechlabs.com If you're not familiar with them. I know they recently cloned the JBPerf Peak & Hold board, so they don't seem to play nice with the rest of the MS community. I'd just like some clarification on their official status.

Symtech buys its product legitimately and there have been no complaints that we know of. So they are not in the same category as Glens Garage, who was removed for not replying to emails from customers and from us. There is a procedure for getting on the Approved Vendors list and I don't think they have applied for it.

Ok, so how do we know who it's ok and not ok to buy from, if there's an unwritten list of "subvendors"? Seems like a grey area that could get taken advantage of by shady vendors.
As for no complaints, let me be the first to complain that they blatantly stole JBPerf's peak and hold board design. They changed it (smt components instead of through hole) JUST enough to probably comply with the law, but it's seriously underhanded. JB sells those boards for nearly cost, not to mention the initiative he took to design and produce them.

Vendors are only placed on the list at *their* request. Symtech has not requested to be added to the vendors list. If they were to ask, we would look their performance with respect to the customers of B&G products, and respond to their request based on what we determine at that time.

We're truly very disappointed that you think this way of us. We have been serving the MegaSquirt community for many years now, and we always strive to deliver superior products and service. We certainly don't think we're "shady" or that we "don't play nice with the rest of the MS community."

We take accusations of theft of intellectual property very seriously. Our PH Driver board is an original design, but we're concerned you think we "cloned" or copied another design. This thread probably isn't the place to discuss that particular matter further, so feel free to PM or email us.
