Car runs but pulsewidth is maxed at 32

Post by just.adam »

Thanks for all the great info on this forum. It has really helped me install my MSII and get the car running.
When I start the car it idles rough and will rev but pulsewidth pegs over to 32 and does not change no matter the throttle position, map, or anything else. Probably something simple but I can't seem to solve it.
Here is my info
MSII V3.57, using megatune
2.3 16v Mercedes 4 cyl
33 lb/hr high impedance injectors
Ford EDIS 4
Jeep 4.0L throttle body w/ IAC and TPS
GM temp sensors (CLT, IAT)

I have attached a log file (I hope)
Thanks for any help.
run 1.msl

Oops! My bad!

Had to edit this post. I did notice that your injector opening seems very large.

I do have a MSII. I have rebuilt my msq a couple of times and I am sure that I have always set the ecu type to 1 (1=MSII 2=Microsquirt). I also confirmed that my configurator is set to MSII as well.

Thanks Ken. Forgive me for being possibly asking a stupid question but where is the setting for that? Is there a setting or do you see that as a symptom of another problem?

It was a stupid question. I see it under "Injector Characteristics". I entered these values right from the manual. It reads
"If you are running high-impedance injectors (greater than 10 Ohms), then set the:

* PWM Time Threshold to 25.4 msec, and the
* PWM Current Limit (%) to 100%.
The injector opening time and PWM time threshold should be set to approximately the same value.

From the MegaManual:
Injector Opening Time (ms) (InjOpen) is the amount of time required for the injector to go from a fully closed state to a fully opened state when a 13.2 volt signal is applied. Since fuel injectors are electro-mechanical devices with mass, they have latency between the time a signal is applied and the time they are in steady-state spraying mode. Typically, this value is close to 1.0 milliseconds. Note that the closing time should be subtracted from this value, but it is generally very small and can be neglected.
The settings you pointed out are correct except the injector open time which will generally be ~1.0 ms.

I do not intend to be critical but an opening time of 25.4 ms will not work. Keep your other settings as they are for now. Try setting open time to 1 ms and see what happens.

That did the trick Ken. Thanks so much. I am having other issues now but I think I can work through them. It will start and run at a very high rpm until the ASE shuts off. Then it dies. More reading to do.
Thanks again, Adam
