Trouble getting shift light function to work - LED output
Read the manual to see if your question is answered there before posting. Many users will not reply if the answer is already available in the manual.
If your question is about troubleshooting, configuration, or tuning, you MUST include your processor type (MS-I or MS-II) and code version in your post. If your question is about PCB assembly or modifications, you must also include the main board version number (1.01, 2.2 or 3.0).
If you have questions about MS1/Extra or MS2/Extra code configuration or tuning, please post them at www.msextra.com Such questions posted here will be moved to: a temporary MSextra sub-forum, where they will be removed after 7 days

Trouble getting shift light function to work - LED output
I'm trying to set the function of the Accel LED on my MS2 v3 to send a signal for a shift light. I'm attempting to test this on the bench using the standard LED setup before modifying the board to send the signal to the harness. I'm currently running the standard firmware (2.905 I think) but plan to run MS2Extra eventually. I'm trying to test everything before changing the setup.
First, is it possible to test this using the standard LED configuration? Or, do I have to jumper the board to test?
When setting the output to trigger at RPM > 6000 I can only get a brief flash of the LED around the trigger point. I've modified the hysteresis in a few different ways but all have the same result, or nothing at all. From what I gather from reading, the hysteresis for the RPM should be just below the trigger point, correct? I've seen some setups leave the hysteresis at 50 or so, which confuses me. I assumed that if the trigger was RPM > 6000 the hysteresis would be something like 5950, and when the RPM fell below 5950 the signal would cut. Is this correct, or am I not thinking about it correctly?
No matter what I've set the spare outputs to, the LEDs always seem to continue their standard function. In the example of the Accel LED, I can set that output for a shift light, but it still triggers when the TPS in increased. Is this how it is supposed to function?
For wiring the output to my harness, I simply remove the existing LED and jumper the ground of the output (square pad for the LED, marked with "-") to the pin on the DB37 I want to use, right? Then, I run 12v to my shift light assembly (which is set up to run on 12v standalone) and connect the ground from the shift light assembly to the output I connected to on the DB37? Just trying to make sure I've got this.
I really do appreciate any help you can give on this. I tried to get this to work for a few hours last night and got nowhere.

Those settings should work. Check the voltage on the resistor going into the LED's control transistor - see if that stays on or goes away quickly.

Do you have any info about my other questions? Will the circuit keep it's original purpose (Accel LED) or should the new settings "overwrite" the original use of the indicator? Are my thoughts on wiring correct?

Either way, now the shift light works as intended and the accel trigger is gone as expected. I've got 5v at the resistor with no signal and around 2.5 over 6000 RPM where the light is triggered.
Now, just to read up on why my injectors are cutting off over 6500 RPM ...
EDIT :: Nevermind on the injectors ... I should know how a rev limit works, shouldn't I?
