ms2 help! for 4age

Post by djky0 »

Hello all! new to the forums.

Currently running ms2 i forget what version. But anyways i got it running good..not great...decent enough to do some spirited driving and daily driving. I got a few questions for you guys.

1. When i try to start the car i always have to give it some gas with the pedal. What do i need to adjust so it just fires up right away?
2. After i get my car started when its cold the idle goes up and down from 1700-2000 sometimes 2500. AFRS are also going rich to lean. Stock wise my engine would run rich on cold starts and stay a constant 2500 until its warmed up. Any suggestions?
3. I've killed my 2nd ignitor on my car. From my understanding I have to adjust the dwell to keep my ecu from frying the ignitor. Any advice?

I am running a high comp 4age on stock ignition and 250cc injectors. Any more info you guys need let me know. Tryning to get the car running right :)

Thanks

1. Cranking pulsewidth - http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/tune.htm#crank

2. Ummm ...

3. Your dwell should be in the 2-3msec range. If it is, and you're killing drivers or coils with overdwell, check your 'Spark Output' setting. For controlling coils directly, it should be set to "going high (Inverted)", or "High to Low." http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/vb921.htm

The RPM and AFR cycling is a sign that the fuel map in that area isn't very well tuned. Basically as the engine starts it'll overshoot the idle RPM because of the extra throttle that you put in. As it tries to idle, it hits a rich spot and gains enough power to rev up, then goes lean as it moves to a different area of the map. Try reducing fuel at your fast idle BINS to make it not go rich as it idles. If you have a wideband you should be able to warm up at ~14:1 AFR then idle all day long at 14.5:1.

thanks for the input my dwell settings are the following.

Spark output: going high
number of coils: single coil
cranking dwell: 4
dwell type:standard
max dwell: 3.2
acceleration comp: 1
max spark 0.7

Thanks Teranfirbt for the info ill try reducing the fuel. But what is "fast idle bins"? It only cycles when the engine is warming up, after warm up it idles steadily at 1500 rpm (got big cams 288/272) @ 14.1-14.7 afrs
