Beginning Tuning

Post by unplugged »

I have the car idling and running relatively well I think. It is drivable. Tuning has been 100% via TunerStudio "AutoTune"
I noticed a few things for starters that I have questions on and was hoping to get some advice.
While the car is drivable I think it lacks punch on acceleration primarily. The power is not what I was expecting from the engine mods I did. That maybe due to excessive expectations or a tuning issue. For starters I noticed the following 2 issues that I did not understand and wanted to make sure I had everything working properly with clean signals before I tried to modify the tune.

At constant RPM just sitting in my driveway the AFR will pulse. The graph looks like a sine wave. I wasn't sure if that was normal.

At 2500 RPM the Tach will drop to a zero reading. Tuner studio still seems to be recording a valid RPM signal so I think the signal to the MS is good but something is up with the output signal. As soon as I let up on the gas the Tach responds again.

Any insight appreciated.

unplugged,

You might want to start by reading this: http://www.megamanual.com/begintuning.htm

Then try some of the many other tuning links in the manual's table of contents: http://www.megamanual.com/mtabcon.htm

For the tach problem, you might want to look at the Ignition Set-Up section of this page: http://www.megamanual.com/mt28.htm (here)
