Setting comm port on computer

Setting comm port on computer

New to Megasquirt but having fun. Trying to install boot loader code into MS daughter board but the download prog pull down menu only allows comm ports 1 to 9, my laptop only has usb comm ports 15 and 16. Both comm ports work fine on loopback testing, only issue is the pull down menu does not allow setting comm port above 9. Any suggestions?? MSQII and latest code version 2.905

I'm not sure why that is limited to COM9, I guess back when it was compiled it was less common to have many usb ports.
The core trouble is each time you plug in something that uses a virtual com port windows creates a new port and it doesn't clean up and retrieve old ones to avoid conflicts.

You can change the COM Port to a lower number in Advanced Settings for the Port in Device Manager
