The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
Forum rules Read the manual to see if your question is answered there before posting. Many users will not reply if the answer is already available in the manual.
If your question is about troubleshooting, configuration, or tuning, you MUST include your processor type (MS-I or MS-II) and code version in your post. If your question is about PCB assembly or modifications, you must also include the main board version number (1.01, 2.2 or 3.0).
Does anyone - preferably UK - offer a repair service for the MS2 processor? I have no output on one injector bank. My 'scope shows pulses present on pin21, but not 22.

Decided to have a go at replacing the processor myself - nothing to lose, after all.
The manual says its a MC9S12 C64MFA. The one on mine is a C64CFAE I've found a supplier with a big range. Should I use the exact replacement - or is there an even later one?

I can't comment on the chip codes, but my first thought is to get it as close as possible to avoid any "undocumented feature" issues.
I believe DIYAutoTune, Symtech Labs, and jmscortina (on the Extra forum) all do daughter card repairs; the first two are in the States, while James is in the UK.
Tried the UK places with no success. However, I'm a fairly experienced constructor, and I'm certain it is that chip which is faulty, so I might as well save the money and do it myself. A new daughter board costs about 120 gbp over here.

One of the comments I've seen a few times with repairing the MS2 card is the need for a BDM cable to install the bootloader onto a new chip. I don't see a good thread on this forum; this thread on MS/Extra seems to be the best.
Ah - didn't realise there was more to it than just fitting the chip and code in the normal way. I'll have to find out how much it will cost to get a USBDM in/to the UK.

I've ordered up the Wytec USBDM, and even with the extortionate P&P to the UK ( $24, so more than the unit itself) it's still a whole lot cheaper than a new daughter board. Let's hope I don't get caught for import duty too.
I'm hoping I can follow the instructions for use given in the 'Extra' thread. Unless someone here can give an easy step by step version?
