I'm looking for a remote mounted TPS, one that doesn't need to be mounted on the throttle shaft. There a few out there, but most over $150 where thay have taken a $40 sensor and monted on a $2 bracket. Any ideas?
Something that might be usable if you can find it in a JY -- a throttle position box was used ’03-’04 Hemi Ram pickup trucks. It essentially is a box with a throttle position sensor in it. A throttle cable attaches this box to a mechanical gas pedal. Engine TB is drive-by-wire.

65 Chrysler 300L, 413, working on inline dual GM TBI units, will run with MS2. Hoping to have factory-style appearance.
The 03 Ram uses a APPS (acelerator pedal position sensor) which is driven by cable that produces an electrical output to the PCM to drive the TB by wire (FBW). The TPS is located in the internals of the TB itself. Just wanted to clarify the external APPS is not a remote TPS. The 04+ APPS is part of the Acelerator Pedal assy and there is no cable used. I see the distinction in your description. Sounds like the APPS is the driver-demand signal to the ECU, then the TPS is the feedback to teh ECU that the drive-by-wire is on target?
But what is the difference between the TPS in the TB and the APPS as far as operation? What is the signal type from teh APPS? PWM or variable voltage? If it's just a potentiometer, it sounds like it should be usable for a retrofit as a remote TPS?

Sorry, I can't answer for the signal type coming from the APPS, but believe it to be voltage (0-5vdc) but not certain. The TPS is difinitely 0-5 vdc. The newer (05)APPS would be the prefered unit as it is self contained in the throttle assembly.
