turbo sbc addvice
I'm building a drag car, a 1986 rx7, i have a 400ci small Block Chevy, a pair of vortec heads and I want to build my own turbo set up to run 5 to 10psi, I could modify a Holley carburetor to run blow through, but I think I would rather drill out an intake manifold for injectors and run a remote throttle body and maf. I have a complete msd system, so i would only need to control fuel, Any suggestions or advice? Which computer would I need?

AFAIK you will only need a megasquirt 1 to control fuel only... altho they use a MAP sensor with a speed/density algorithm so no MAF is required

As for remote throttle body, that is not required nor really a good set up if you have a Holley pattern intake. On Ebay you can source a very nice 1000 cfm throttle body for cheap, also DITAutoune has one too.
Big issue is matching the TPS output to the MS you use. For timing on SBS go over to theturboforums. http://www.theturboforums.com/threads/3 ... ome/page11
This page will give you some ideas on how to run timing. The guy is running a crank trigger, and commander 950 FI with TPI dapter harness. IT RAN 9.30s on junk.
Biggest issue a 400 will have is cylinder wall flex.
Since your being conservative on boost, you should be fine.
Remoted throttle bodies wind up trashing the flow charateristics of a carb intake.
About the best trade off is a 45 degree adapter and point it forward, then the airflow seems to work acceptable, you might have to work the tau a little but less issue than remote throttle body.

And calibrating the TPS is usually pretty easy too - I haven't seen a four barrel throttle body with an incompatible TPS type yet.
