output turn on with rpm but go off after 4 seconds?

For discussing Phil Tobin's TunerStudio MS is the MegaSquirt edition of TunerStudio, a next generation tuning application. It provides the ability to configure and tune all MegaSquirt controllers and is 100% compatible with MegaTune ini files and msq's.

output turn on with rpm but go off after 4 seconds?

Post by badshoe »

I see now to turn on a sol./relay like for nitrous with rpm by setting an output (IAC1) rpm >3000 and 300 rpm hyst. to keep it from bouncing. My question, is there a way to turn the relay off after so many seconds? Come on at 3K rpm, stay on and turn off after 4 seconds. If doable, how would that be set?, thanks....Ken.

Unfortunately, I *think* you're stuck with a timer in your output circuitry, whether a timer relay or a 555. There is a 'seconds' field in the programmable outputs section, but that's seconds from power-up, not seconds from output activation.

I believe you may be right however, I'll try to find a workaround. It seems that one output (rpm on PA0) could trigger on at 3K rpm which goes high sending 12 volts to JS9 which in turns enables the IAC1 output. Maybe the IAC1 output could have the seconds count-up. When the IAC1 is enabled, the output starts on and after the count up, goes low.

As Don pointed out above..... There is no timer in MS2 that would accomplish what you are trying to do. However, I am thinking that a code modification that would grab the current timer count and start counting from there, might do what you want. Hmmmm.......

The easy way would be what Don suggested..... Either a timed relay or a 555 timer IC could accomplish it nicely.

On the other hand, as you may already know, nitrous control already exists in the Extra code and works very well. Why not use it and not complicate matters?
