Need some info/help with programmable outputs

For discussing Phil Tobin's TunerStudio MS is the MegaSquirt edition of TunerStudio, a next generation tuning application. It provides the ability to configure and tune all MegaSquirt controllers and is 100% compatible with MegaTune ini files and msq's.

Need some info/help with programmable outputs

Post by ROBO »

Hello everyone. I am new to MS and this forum and this is my first time posting here.
I recently built a DIYPNP Version 1.5b and installed it onto my 4AGZE engine.
So far everything has been going smooth and I have been able to figure most everything out.
One question I do have is about the programmable outputs.
I have one of the outputs (PA0) enabled and wired to control my supercharger relay. I have it set to activate on TPS >30%.
I see there is an option under the activation menu for "seconds". I am curious how the "seconds" activation works.
At what point does it start counting the seconds?

What I am wanting to do is have the supercharger engage at TPS> 30%, then when the condition is false instead of having the SC switch off immediately I want to have a 4-5 second delay before it switches off. That way when I shift gears and let off the throttle it will not constantly cycle the SC clutch and wear it out, It will just keep it locked in during the short lift in throttle.

If someone could please tell me if this is possible and if so what settings I should be looking at to get this to work as described?

Thanks!

That is what the hysteresis is for. Set that to the threshold you want it to fall below your target before toggling off/on.

Thanks for the reply Phil.
The only problem I see with setting it with the hysteresis is that when I lift off the pedal the shift the TPS signal will fall to 0% and be below any hysteresis I could set and the SC clutch would cycle on and off.
Is there not any way to set a time delay before it turns off?

He's talking about a delay in TIME, not throttle position, so it stays on for 4-5sec even after his TPS% drops below his hysteresis value.

IIRC, 'seconds' is time since power up. If there is a delay function timed from either port activation or deactivation, I haven't found it. You might want to look at a 555 circuit.

To support a time delayed turn off would take adding the concept to the firmware, or an external circuit.
