I don't doubt the events that you say are taking place truly are. A datalog will make it possible for many others, (including myself), to see what MS is "seeing" and doing. Without a datalog, we will have to resort to guessing. There is a rev limiter that you need to check the settings on.
williamb82 wrote:i need to learn how to datalog this thing. i cant watch the laptop or gauges when it happens.
I think you are datalogging correctly, just not opening the correct software to view it.
williamb82 wrote:is there anyone on this forum thats experienced enough in my area that youd recomend to help?
You could post another thread asking that very question. I personally don't know anyone in that area.
williamb82 wrote:i richened the accell at 100% of the tps by 1 more ms. and the setting before that by 1 and below that by 0.5ms
This assumes that accel is your issue, which I do not believe it is.
williamb82 wrote:id like to make a usuable datalog. any directions on that? i thought it was just do ctrl l, then name it and save then drive around then choose stop. but obviously theres something else to it.
That's correct, although I don't ever use the ctrl l function to start my datalog. There should be an indicator that comes on in the lower right corner, signifying that you are datalogging.
williamb82 wrote:i didnt make the log with megatweek. i tried making it with megatune and then opening it with megatweek. is there a way to make it with megatweek? guess theres more readign i need to do then. any pointers?
Erase Megatweak from your computer and brain forever, and use MegalogViewer, (MLV) and Megatune,(MT), or Tunerstudio, (TSMS).
Try opening your datalog with MLV and tell me what happens.

oops. thought it was megatweak i needed. downloaded it the other day. lol. ill try to get the megalogviewer tonight. as for the rev limit settings, they are correct. soft limit is 7050 and hard limit is 7100. i know the rev limit isnt causing it at 5600. i have wondered if maybe the bracket i mounted the vr sensor too maybe isnt stiff enough and is vibrating at that rpm causeing the issue? idk. i have to put some pretty decent force on it for it to move around at all. made it from aluminum angle.

Possibly, but not likely. Your datalog should show that as an erratic tach signal above 5600 RPM.

MegaTune (or TunerStudio) is what records logs, MegaLogViewer is for playing them back and analyzing them.

ok, how do i make logs with megatune? i have tried doing the ctrl + L to start he log or by going throug hthe tab at the top. a window comes up to set the file name and i click save. then drive awhile and then stop it. yet when i open the file wit hthe megalog viewer it is blank. im obviously missing something here.
btw, sorry for no updates. car has been parked. it is a blown hg for sure. thinking of putting a stock hg on just so i can play wit hthe car more and figure more tuning out. i have a new metal hg but am using it on the engine im in the process of rebuilding and dont want to spend another $120 on a 2nd metal hg. lol. bought a new aluminum radiator, tial 50mm knockoff bov, new turbo header, and misc other stuff also.

Are you running Windows Vista? If so, make sure you have permission to write to that location.

What if you open the file with Excel?

Did you still have MT open, (and datalogging), when you tried to open the log?

No. You should stop logging before you exit MT, and you must stop logging before you try to open a log with MLV. Thought maybe we'd get lucky and it'd be a simple fix. Did you watch where MT wanted to store the datalogged file? Maybe it put it in a weird place?

nah, i tried saving it to the desktop even. but it puts them in the same folder as my msq files. the file size is near zero even if i log for 20min. idk. i need to reread all the stuff on logging i guess and see what i can figure out. might start rippin the head off the car this weekend for the hg change. idk yet. lol
