GM high frequency MAF cal curve

Post by jakobsladderz »

I'm playing around with a GM/Hitachi MAF sensor off an aussie VS commodore (buick V6 derived engine, 3.8L). I'm wondering if anybody has access to the calibration details (mass flow vs frequency) for these airflow meters.
This one gives out about 180-190Hz with no flow and maybe 1.8-2kHz at idle.

Cheers,
Duncan

I guess I can answer my own question now after relocating the info from way back.. I have found this to be fairly close..
It was one I found on the old DIY-EFI site apparently read out of an ECU Cal Rom. I figured a line-of-best-fit onto it (was originally 100 times smaller units, I wanted the resolution) and extrapolated somewhat. It's not perfect but it's probably within 2-3% over most of the curve, although each sensor is different. Flow Units - couldn't say, although I can say a 2 litre engine idles at around 500-600 of them.. The sensor seems to be temp compensated I think, the cal is as good on freezing mornings as after a hot soak.
Doesn't seem to obey King's law even remotely, it's a bit odd in my mind, but who am I to argue with the numbers..

Sensor has AC written on it, although it's a high frequency output that I thought were made by Hitachi. 3 pins, active low open collector signal output. 12V (car battery) supply.

Enjoy
