shield on wires (EDIS)

I'm installing EDIS to my car according this diagram
http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/edis4ew.gif
would like to understand more about shields on PIP/SAW and VR wires.
What are they for? Are they just grounded?
Also what is the function of 25uF on the 12v wire going to the coil?

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
M.

shields perform one of two functions 1) keep "stray" RF from inducing (changing) the signal that is running down the wires inside of the shield or 2) keep RF from being emitted by the wires inside of the shield.

I was told by a EE who specialized in high freq systems that the shields should be attached to ground at ONE end only, and the other end should float.

What's the RF?
And what means should "float" (not touch enything? be isolated?)

not connected or touch anything is correct.
RF = Radio Frequency

Understood thanks. Is there a rule how long the wire should be? What if I mount the EDIS module near the ECU?

And please somebody tell me about the function of 25uF on the 12v wire going to the coil?

The 25uF is the resistance between the primary and secondary of the coil.

25 uF = 25 micro farad capacitor. Plenty in the search on it.
