Any recommendations? Should I just wrap it in 'lectric tape? What about friction tape? I found some old looking "shrink tape" that looked promising. Also where can I get some plastic conduit worth using? The crap they sell at vatozone gets destroyed by heat and crumbles. Thanks guys!

A traditional approach in English cars is to wrap in non-adhesive electrical tape.
A dot of superglue (bonding tape to tape) at each end holds it. Then (once cut) it comes off easily in case
changes are needed. Holden.co.uk electrical > wiring > tape. Called Bondalec tape.
I've used it in my project car. Nice stuff.

Visit a Pull-A-Part Yard and get some of the covering used on productin cars. That stuff will not crumble from the heat.

waytekwire.com has everything you will ever need for a harness but you need to buy large quantities.

I spent a lot of money at one time so I never worried about a minimum. I used their on-line shopping cart. I bought 250ft of each color of wire that I needed. As cheap as it was, it made sense. I could buy 15' for 8$ from most dealers or 250' for $12 from them. I also ordered one hundred foot of each size of wire loom. It was pretty cheap as well.

I recently discovered Corvette in particular (1953-2007) and Chevrolet more generally
used non-adhesive 1 inch wide plastic tape (black) to wrap wiring harnesses.
A web search for "wire harness tape non adhesive" or "wiring harness tape non adhesive"
will get you inexpensive sources on the web, and I have to guess you will find local sources too.
As I said earlier, a drop of superglue is easer than tying the ends.

Most Mopars seem to use the non-adhesive tape too. The split convolute loom is a cheap alternative and pretty easy to set up although it does seem to deteriorate after a couple years.

cover the harness with spiral wrap a little more labor intensive but makes for a very nice looking harness building one right now will post pics tomorrow

Spiral makes for a clean install and lets you jump out with a branch where ever you want
