The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
I am in the process of an EFI conversion of a Pontiac 455. I just bought a set of EDIS coil packs and EDIS-8 module from a Lincoln 4.6 liter. I would like to locate a set of universal plug wires for this set up. Has anyone seen or know of a build your own plug wire set for these? Thanks.
A few people have ditched the Ford EDIS coils for Chrysler coils, and have found the EDIS module operates them satisfactory. The Chrysler coils feature standard "bullet" tower terminals allowing regular wire sets to be utilized.
Rumor has it that Ford of Australia actually used the Chrysler coils with the EDIS module from the factory. Apparently they were easier to get locally.

The only EDIS module equipped cars here in Australia (that I know of) were Mondeo and maybe some Exploder models. Everything else had EDIS control in the engine ecu. The six cylinder falcon (1994-1996) and (1998-2002) used bosch marked coils - probably made by bosch in Australia. And why would you taint a Ford with Chrysler parts?
1984 Ford Falcon 250ci inline 6 MS'd of course!
If you are hitting your head up against a wall it always feels better when you stop.
I bought a used EDIS setup that came with a set of explorer plug wires. If you're careful, you can disassemble the coil-end connectors off the the old wires and re-use them on to new plug wires. If you want to do that, then just go find a set of 5.0L explorer plug wires in a junk yard.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
