Trouble Tunning at Start up

I am running a MS-II 2.3L Turbo Ford, I have Direct coil Ignition setup, and am using the Hall sensor in my distributor. I have all good readings form my sensors and I cant see any apparent noise signals in my datalog. I had it running the other day but was unable to warm it up as it wouldnt idle and I wanted to try and tune the idle as it was running. Since then I have had lots of problems with it firing consistently and I am now just chasing bin numbers hopeing to discover some miraculas set of numbers. I will post my MSQ and Datalog of me attempted start up.

Go back to what was almost running for you... let it stumble and sputter, but do what you have to do to keep it running long enough to warm up. THEN try to tweak in an idle. Even if you have to dial the idle speed up to 2k to find stability, that gives you a platform from which to tune the area below that and start dialing it down.

Having just gone through this a week or so ago: Simplify. Turn off or disable every option you can. Be sure all enrichments are either turned off or set out of range. Concentrate on setting the basic injector parameters, REQ FUEL and VE table.

Good luck!

Yes, go back to the MSQ that it ran with and methodically change your cranking PW first, and then your ASE. I would set all your WUE to very small numbers, or even zeroes, to begin, and adjust them later. Dis-able your hot ASE. I didn't look at your MSQ but I suggest setting your WUE and cranking PW to "2-point" vs "table", as it is easier to make a change. If it ran, your req_fuel is probably alright for now, so just get it started again and adjust the idle with the engine warmed up. You may have to tweak the VE table a little to accomplish this, but you'll get it. Of course you should do all of this after you have verified that your MS2 is properly configured for your injectors, (low impedence vs high etc,).

Its been exciting! But now Im having weird rpm loss and sputtering which seems to be random and appear out of no where. sometimes it runs fin and other times its all over the map! I am a little lost as to figure weather this is a mechanical issue or a MS-II issue. I will attach my MSQ and a datalog of the behavior. Any sugesstions? Also I should not I am running a set 12 degrees of advance through stock ignition right now to troubleshoot.

Is this when you drive it or still in the garage revving it up? Are you running a WBO2?

Still in the shed, I am using a Narrow band to start, and I turned off all the settings so there is no EGO control at this time

I sounds like you are running out of fuel and forcing MS into lower RPM ranges, where it picks up fuel again and tries to return to the original RPM. Try holding it a constant RPM and increasing the VE value if it falters. Once that one is set correctly, move to the next bin. If your accel light bleeps on at any time during this, that will likely giving you serious tuning problems as well.
Your datalog shows the engine stalling and then running again without cranking. Have you also checked your grounds?

The cranking light comes on in megaTune my grounds all appear to be working well, Im right frustrated now with it as it is not even starting any more and it wont even fire with old MSQ's, I think its a VE table issue and REQ FUEL I have spark compression and my injectors are firring I think that Im flooding the piss out of it. Take a look at my MSQ and let me know what you think.

Is it already flooded when you try an old MSQ? As painful as it may be, crank it over without the fuel pump plugged in to dry off the plugs between starting attempts. You might have to pull them to be sure they are not still wet. Keep in mind, however, that you will probably smell the fuel if it is too rich. I've had to start mine on starting fluid a few times to dry out the plugs before trying another starting scenario. Once you get it to start, if the VE numbers are between 25 and 50, you should have enough room to adjust them up or down as needed. Stop adjusting the Req_Fuel if your idle values are between 25 and 50. Be really, really sure that your pump, lines, injectors, and filter(s) are not plugged.

I don't know your engine, so looking at your MSQ probably will not show me anything, sorry.

Thank you for the advice! I took a big step back for a day, let everything dry out, (you were right it was flooded!!) re-read the megamanul proceedures for start up, Took notes when out side with a plan. I left my VE tavle values as calculated, changed only my cranking pulse widths and ASE values. leaving almost all other enrichment settongs disabled, except WUE which i left a default. and with in 10 lovely mins, I had a nicely idleing truck! Thansk again now playiong a and having fun tunning!!!!!!
