I have only searched the forums going back 7 pages to see if anyone else has had this problem with their assembly but have only found simular issues and not the one that I have run into. This is my first MS-II V3 board build and have been having a blast doing it so far but major issue and now I"m stuck. Everything has so far tested out correctly UNTILL I place the daughter board into the socket. I have all the correct echoes with my laptop and even with the jumper wire between pin 12 and 13 have all worked out fine. When I go to place the daughter board into the socket and test the echo (connection to the laptop) I get nothing. I made sure it was sucurely in place and like I said up until I placed the daughter board into the socket everything has worked and tested out correctly. I'm slightly worried that the daughter board may be shot and was just wondering if anyone else had an idea as to why something like this has taken place. Thank you for your help.

Well I tried to proceed in installing the code but the next issue I ran into was when I used the MS Download V2.00 and install the code it came up with the issue that there wasn't a connection with MS Com1.
It said the following:
File read successfully.
Download failed:
Could not open comm port 1.
Exception caught; 2
Also another bit of information, I did not set up the stepper IAC because my car will not need this to be controlled by MS and also did not set up the ignition setups. When I was looking at the manual I was slightly confused why they where talking about setting up the ignition so early when at step 60something was the setup for the ignition input and output. Should I set these paramaters up now?

Thank you Lance for your help. I think I figured out the issue, I had dropped the Y1 crystal "thingy" on the carpet and might have even stepped on it, not sure though. Needless to say I think that the crystal might be causing some of, if not all of the issues. I'm just going to replace it and see if that doesn't help out. If nothing else it makes me feel better about replacing it due to the fact I did drop it even on carpet, might have caused some damage.

I was hoping I didn't read that correctly but I guess its back to the troubleshooting guide again. Thanks again Lance.

So I just wanted to give everyone an update, the communication problem that I ran into was a few things combined into one: first issue was I have vista and vista sucks. I'm sure this is covered in this forum somewhere but I will just say it again and beat the dead horse alittle more, right click onto the MS Downloader and use the program under "run as administrator." Second issue was for some reason I thought that I had to use MS Downloader WITH the HyperTerminal open. This program must be closed in order to let the MS Downloader to work properly. I also deleted everything that I downloaded for MS before I started the build like MegaTune and any other files and also MS downloader and HyperTerminal. I then just downloaded the programs that where talked of in the assembly build and started all over. Just got done loading the code and I will continue with my build. These where pretty easy fixes but it is not in the troubleshooting guild. I hope this helps out some people who might come across this problem as well or maybe it was just me

Welp off to continue the build finally

I had a similar problem because I left the jumper between pin 12 &13. It didnt say to remove it anywhere in the build instructions, so I didnt. Just and FYI for anyone who is also having this issue.
