Unstable IAT reading with GM sensor

I have installed TWO IAT sensors, both of them the GM open type, in my car's air box and regardless of which sensor I connect MS to, the IAT readings will start jumping all over the place when IAT gets fairly hot (+- 50degC). Up to about 40degC the readings are quite stable.
My CLT sensor and TPS are both using the same ground (directly back to MS) as the IAT and are 100% stable with 0 noise.
I read somewhere that the people support the IAT sensor with silicone because they tend to fail with vibration but I find it hard to accept that they are SO WEAK that even the vibrations in the air box would cause both these sensors to fail.
Are these GM sensors really that unreliable?
