half tach signal on MS2 3.0/ 2.89ini on 02 Sunfire
The engine is a 2.2 NON-ecotech.
I am running on the stock ignition system only controlling fuel so far. (Figured it would be easier to tune 1 thing at a time) The Tach on megatune is half of what the factory tach is showing. The ms2 is new and everything test good with the jimstim. I got a tach signal at the factory coil pack, infact there were a couple wires with the signal and both give half tach. I'm sure I'm overlooking somthing.
The second thing is questions regarding connecting up this ms2 to the icm?! Has anyone made this work? I would Really appreciate some guidance on this part because I can't find anything that really matches up. The wire colors are different than the references I've found, and not the same amount of wires either. Makes it difficult to match up. I have read the manual about GM dis and hei. I have also read about using a 93 Cavilier icm, but I can't seem to wrap my head around this part?!

or why it is needed or on which combinations it's needed???
Thanks for any help that can be provided!!

For fuel only, try setting it to two cylinder as the coils on the coil pack divide the sparks between them. The OBD-I DIS modules are pretty straightforward to interface with the MS2 using normal code. Right now using the OBD-II DIS components is a bit more experimental. There's some beta code out there for reading the crank trigger, and I'm not aware of anyone who's used the stock DIS module, which seems to have less processing power than the OBD-I version.

Thank You!
I tried using 2 cyl, 8cyl, and 12 cyl all to no avail. It changed the way it ran, but did Not change the tach reading on Megatune. Still kept reading half. I am suposed to be changing it under the fuel setting part correct? I couldn't find anywhere else.
I have kinda given up on that dis 2 module. Will the dis 1 from a 94 2.2 cavalier work. It is different from a 93 cav, it only has 2 plugs on it. Only 2 pins are used in the bigger of the two but there are more pins in the connector.

Please post a copy of your MSQ file. This sounds like something is very wrong with your settings.

How do I post that msq? I have tried for a couple days now to no avail!
I picked up a 93 cavalier 2.2 icm. Wired it up the way I saw on here, and got spark one time!? Every other time I get nothing? With both modules connected, The dis 2 sparks always, but the dis 1 does not. Any suggestions?

Below the Save - Preview - Submit buttons, you will find a pair of tabs marked "Options" and "Upload Attachment." Click the Upload Attachment tab. Then click the "Browse" button that appears. A file open dialog box will pop up. Select the file, then click Open. Then fill in the description in the field below the file name. Once you have all that, click Add the File. Repeat this, starting with "Browse," to add more files. Once you have these all attached, you can enter your post and the files will be attached.

Thank you for your help. With the 2nd file I was able to get a correct tach reading for a couple minutes. Then it was reading erratically?? Maybe noise? This is on the stock 02 sunfire ignition module. With the 93 cavalier module I can't get any spark at all? I kept all the settings in the two files the same for both modules. Any ideas? Thank You very much for your help, I'm doing this for a friend as a favor and he's getting impatient to add to my stress. lol

They have the same ignition settings, at least the ones that deal with RPM. Could you draw up a diagram of how this is wired up?
