AFR reading as 19.9 for first couple minutes

Post by grover »

When first starting my car, my sensor reads the normal 10.4 until it is warmed up, then instantly switches to showing 19.9 for a couple of minutes. After that, it begins to read normally again. Any idea what could be causing this? thanks in advance folks. I tried searching "19.9" in the archives but had no luck.

If you give it a little gas when it is in that range does it drop down like it should or stat there at 19?

Thanks for the input, but i don't think this is normal. I've had this system set up for the last year, and it has always given me a low (about 10.2) reading for the first 30 seconds or so until it is warmed up. However, after that it would give a correct reading. Just in the last week however, it is now going from 10.2 immediately up to 19.9 for several minutes.

Try taking the sensor out of the pipe and see if its heating up....use something other then you hand to verify that its getting up to temp.
