OEM Computer required for gauges?

Post by scp616 »

I heard from the guy who runs the DIY auto-tune site that you have to retain the factory computer in a 2002 mustang to run the gauges. He also said i could use the stock computer to run the idle air control. I know i'll have to keep the stock computer for my alarm and auto door locks to work, but i'm a little worried about "sharing" sensors between the stock computer and the megasquirt controller. Does anyone foresee any problems with this application? This will be my daily driver and i would like to keep the stock gauge cluster

Thanks,
Scott

Does anyone at least know of someone who has done a similar integration so i can ask them a few questions?
I'm getting pretty close to starting this project, and i'm getting a little worried about using megasquirt without knowing more about how it will integrate with the factory ecu.
