EDIS-4 no tach signal.

Post by RaZ »

Installing EDIS-4 on a Mazda b2200 with MX6 engine (2.2 12v Turbo). MS2 2.89 (not extra) on PCB 3.57.

EDIS-4 is wired through factory shielded wires, we read 1.5+ VAC on the VR sensor and we get spark while cranking. EDIS is working, PIP is 12 while not cranking, and changes around when cranking. We have verified that PIP is making it to the megasquirt.

JP1 is jumpered across 2-3 and J1 is 1-2.

http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/EDIS.htm has nothing to say on the matter of 3.57

Anything obvious I'm missing, or any important preliminary step I haven't outlined as something we have done, please chime in

Thanks :)

First thing to check - do you have spark at the coils? Also, could you post a copy of your MSQ file?

most common problem if getting no rpm - is you setup MS to run off of a 36-1 wheel. -- which is wrong. Trigger tooth wheel should be zero - settings at bottom of page that Matt references.

it wound up being a short in the awful wiring harness that the previous person to work on this vehicle had made.

Currently, we are trying to find a 6 volt short to ground in the injector harness. Man, what a pain.

I know to not set the MS2 to read a 36-1 wheel when using EDIS - I also know its a common mistake :) Thanks though!
